Not sure where to post this. I just got a new rpal card in the mail but I never requested a new card and my card never expired and I've had my restricted for a over a year. I'm curious as to why the rcmp would send me a new card?

Huh, that is weird. The only thing that would come to mind as a newb would be, did you purchase your first restricted firearm recently?

Edit: by recently I should specify in the last few months given everything going on 😂

Ya I've had my pal for a long time but only got my restricted a year and a half ago. Never bought anything restricted until a month or so ago when I bought four pistols lol. So maybe that's the case but still seems odd to send a new card for that reason.

Yeah that explains it. They apparently reissue you a new card when you purchase your first restricted. Even if you apply for your RPAL/PAL at the same time they'll send you the PAL first and send you a new card with the R designation after. I find it kinda silly too but that's government bureaucracy for you.

You need to cut out and carry the conditions printed on the paper. Your card now has the word restricted printed on it.
