Good for the Conservatives for attempting this, but of course the Liberals were never going to go for it. Even leaving aside the fact that this is their prized wedge issue, no major party is going to allow another one to essentially hijack their big important bill and pick and choose the parts they like.
The fact that apparently only the Liberals voted against this motion means this was a good hit to their optics, though. Not that it counts for much all things considered, but it does show them to be nakedly self-interested with this legislation.
