I'm in Ontario, and I have a PAL + RPAL course in mid july- do I immediately get the PAL+RPAL or is it just a course and then I have to send in an application?

You have to take the course and pass it. I believe it’s 80% or higher to pass. Then you have to wait for your course transcripts to be sent back to you after being verified by CFO. You can then apply through the RCMP for your license. The course is only one of the few steps of acquiring your license.

I’m in the same boat; signed up for PAL and RPAL course mid July. If you folks were to bet what are the chances I get my RPAL license in time to buy a pistol?

Kicking myself for leaving it this late, but I’d promised myself I wouldn’t get into this until I could properly afford to do so, and that just happened. Any issues once I’m licensed buying a lifetime supply of handguns at once (other than supplies)?

Appreciate the generous sharing of info, I don’t have any family or friends that’s into this.
