Anyone else super depressed and pessimistic with the state of our hobby? I feel like in 10 years ill be lucky to own any kind of firearm. I dont even hunt ffs i guess poking holes in paper is too dangerous.

In 10 years you will own nothing and be happy

maybe instead of us being depressed we should plan some type of protest to actually do something

Maybe we can make them reconsider by using logic and evidence to show this is a huge waste of resources?

Perhaps we can present the most signed petition in our history and they’ll have to respond?

lol

Trudeau has got to go

We already did. CBC said 100 people came out and that was it.

None of that matters if an OIC - any OIC, at any time - can completely shit all over your efforts.

I get depressed and pessimistic is because people still treat it as only a hobby and not something more.

That's the biggest difference between us and the US. The number one reason people by a firearm in the US is protection. We can't do that here (except for animals). Until that changes, it will remain a "hobby" that most Canadians don't care about.

I personally know people who've has restricted transfers approved for "all purposes listed in the Firearms Act"

Then I think that person is BS-ing you because that isn't even possible, the CFP's program for transfers has to explicitly specify one reason for the transfer to be occurring. Just try and tell them you are purchasing a gun for collector status when your previous R's have been for target practice and you will have some issues.

Though it is good to note that self-defense is a valid reason within the Firearms Act, even if the RCMP generally refuse to allow it

A little depressed, but on the bright side we should feel fortunate that we have the opportunity to actually change things. There's a lot things going on culturally, and around the world, that can work in the gun community's favor. Just have to put in the work.
