Regardless of who wins the conservative leadership, I seriously hope that they leave firearms out of their platform and introduce legislation after a win, or promise not to touch the current legislation and break that promise

I agree; however, in order to win an election, we need to siphon as much support from the left as possible. Owning the prairies is great and all, but it won't win any elections

Some things wouldn't be so bad to adopt such as pro lgbt, pro choice and pro environmental policies.

These are the big things that average Canadians care about

The Tories literally just ran someone on that and lost. This idea of a mythical centrist voting bloc is just an overrepresented demographic on Reddit. Current polling data suggests that the Tories are much better served by mobilizing their base and trying to win back the PPC.

A real push to the "Left" that will win over voters is to support working-class and labour rights, not progressive partisan hack issues that they already objectively caved on (besides environmental). Your other comment suggests that this impression you have of the party comes more from your own biases.
