Bringing Firearm Parts Back From the US
I'm hearing mixed answers and figured I'd ask if anyone has done this recently. Going to the states soon.
From my understanding, the old rule was basically "if it goes in, on, or deals with a firearm" it's not allowed to come back with you. (Ex. Optics, slides, barrels, grips, etc. but not slings, cleaning tools, mats, etc.)
But now the rules have been changed a bit under Trump in 2019-2020, regarding the department that handles the export no longer being the same. Hence a reclassification of what's allowed to be brought back.
Say for example you wanted to bring an engraved slide, or stripped receiver (that is for a legal firearm in Canada) back with you from a trip to the States, how would that go with the rule change? Guns absolutely need an exporter, but I'm specifically talking about parts that are not regulated like a pistol frame is regulated. Like a slide, or handgrips for example.
Because let's face it there's no goddamn way I'm going to Freedom Town and not firing some damn full auto guns (M4A1, AKM, Vector, M249 SAW, AUG, and MP5 are the minimum I'd like to shoot, recommend something to me if you like!) and goodies we aren't allowed to have here. Might see something more available there and want to bring it back type of deal.

You're in for a rude awakening when this runs you like $1000 CAD lol
Anyway, you're not going to be able to bring anything back with you without a export licence, unfortunately. The US is pretty stingy about gun stuff leaving the country.
