BC Timeline Update:

Application received September 15th 2020.

Processed Jan 8th and sent to BC CFO.

Approved May 7th 2021 (just under 8 months total).

I was calling the RCMP every month since February for an update and told to just wait, finally approved, references not called. My wife's license was approved back in February, no idea why mine took longer (both sent off at the same time, processed same day).

I'm just over 8 months in BC. I called last week and he said it's just a final background check and approval from the head CFO guy. I'm going to call again next week because it's just ridiculous. I have no criminal record or medical record that would prohibit me, they talked to my reference and it went well, and they got a doctors note that confirmed I am a-ok to have firearms.

What was the last reason he said to you on your last call?

Sorry to hear you're still waiting for your license, that really sucks :( Last call was in April and they just said everything looked good, was in the final stages and to be patient. They said to call back in May if I hadn't heard anything. I had a problem with my application where someone at the RCMP kept changing my address on file for reasons unknown, I think that slowed things down. Eventually I asked them to add a note to my file to please stop changing my address, the one on file is correct (was different each time I called them).

IDK if they are understaffed or intentionally sitting on their hands, but it just sucks.

Next time I call I'm gonna ask for a time line. Last time he said it should be "very soon", but who knows if that means a week or 2 months.

Yeah that's pretty much what they told me each time I called as well "its in the final stages, should be issued very soon". Was only last month where they were finally like ok this is taking longer than it should call us again in April if you haven't heard anything.
