Awww, This really sucks but i cant say im surprised after following the bullshit around this.

As small compensation, it seems like the FAMAE SG540/SG542 rifles have just recently been issued a non restricted FRT, and a restricted FRT for the 543(due to barrel length). Not that this helps the poor fuckers with 3500$ of arbitrarily illegal property.

Well, now I gotta go update the "cool nonrestricted guns in canada" gallery. Does anyone know if this applies to all the Swiss rifles, or just one type?

edit: ok edited the NR gallery, deleted the Swiss Arms(wah) and added the FAMAE family(yay)

Not saying I agree with what's happening because I don't, I think it's bullshit, but can't say that it surprises me. With that being said, would it not have made more sense to make a post stating that these rifles are now prohibited firearms, however if you are currently in possession of one you can upgrade/update your PAL to include possession of prohibited firearms. This would allow the owners to keep their guns.

Edit: With the Long Gun Registry gone I would just keep my mouth shut if I owned one and plead ignorance if I was caught with one.

Edit 2: Whenever laws/regulations ect are changed to exclude or reclass a specific firearms or types of firearms there should always be a grandfathered clause for people who already own them to allow them to keep them.

Read S.12 of the Firearms Act.
