How the hell can a gun that is non-restricted suddenly be deemed prohib? One minute it's safe enough for use hunting and the next it's too dangerous for anyone to have? What the fuck? As someone interested in public policy the way we handle gun laws in this country just confounds me.

What happened was two business partners split up. They were both selling the gun and in competition. When one guy got a hold of the other guy's product it was a hacked up butcher job so he called the police.

After months of examination, the RCMP firearms lab determines that the rifle is a converted automatic. Converted Automatics are prohibited to own unless you have a 12(3) license for a Converted Automatic.

So basically these two idiots who couldn't get along ruined it for everyone that owns one of these rifles.

Also sounds like the RCMP didn't do their due diligence when they let the SAN rifles into the market to begin with

Not necessarily. The original importer could have pulled a fast one like with the original T97.

Of course the distributor is also on the hook if they knew that, and were selling illegal firearms to people.

That's just it. I think there is a lot of smoke and mirrors with these rifles. They're expensive, and who knows their origins. Are these new manufactured rifles, or made from the receivers of other rifles and relabeled? I don't believe either party's story and think there's been something fishy about these guns all along.
