I don't even have a .gif that describes how pissed off I am.

I also think there's going to be an unusual amount of boating accidents in the next few days.

"Hi Mr. RCMP officer"

"GUT THE FUK ON THE GRUND! WHURS YOUR EVEIL sWiSS rufLE?"

"Oh, you see, I just got back from a fishing trip. And wouldn't you believe it, the rifle was in its case, trigger locked, unloaded, and under key, when it FELL OFF the boat! Also, could you please stop stepping on my wind pipe, its quiet hard to talk this way."

"UHHHHHM, well... LET ME SEE YUR SAIFE!"

"I'll gladly show it to you, just let me get my keys from the storage location that is not anywhere near the safe. Actually, could you open the drawer for me, my shoulder seems to have been dislocated when your tactical team stormed through the door and billy clubbed me into submission after I answered the door."

Opens safe

"UUUUUUHM, why r all your base are belongs to us all yur gunz trigger lucked wile in thu safe?"

"Haha, it funny that you mention that mR. Gestapo officer. Being a responsible firearms owner, it is my responsibility to abide to any and all firearms legislation no matter how fucking assbackwards as fuck it is what. So I went above and beyond and ensured that not only were all the firearms properly stored in a locked container, but also that they were rendered inoperable. Think of it a way to cover my ass from persecution by the government sign of good faith. By the way, if it wouldn't inconvenience you, could you please call for an ambulance? I think my spleen is tickling my lungs and I can see sound... I'm not saying it was the unnecessary sucker punch your roided up enforcer tactical officers threw at me anything to do with it though."

"UUUUUUHM, goddammit, he's coverd... MOVE OUT, BOyz, he's clear."

"Thank you! Now if you could get me that ambul-."

"PSYCHED! You DIDNT LOCK UP UR AMMO, YOU MUNSTAR!"

foams from the mouth

"But you don't have to lock up your ammo! It's in the legisl-."

Nightstick to the throat

THE END

You're forgetting the part where he's still charged with unsafe storage anyways.

Probably, but a man can be delirious and hope a safe is considered an appropriate storage device dream.

It's not like the Ontario Attorney General and the Toronto Metro Police has dragged out a case for over 12 years where they argued a safe that took two days to break open with sledgehammers and blowtorches is not an adequate way to store firearms...

Oh wait...

EDIT: RCMP not responsible... in this case

Oh I know. I've used the Mike Hargreaves case as an egregious law and it's poor application. Even the biggest gun haters I came across in University thought that was ridiculous.

When I saw the story a couple of days ago in /r/canadaguns I had a mini stroke.

I couldn't believe they had the BALLS to call a fucking concrete safe and UNSECURED storage device.

I've known about the case since 2011 (I believe). I cited this National Post article in a paper I wrote on the LGR. Even my prof, a Brit from Manchester agreed it was a ridiculous charge. And he's from a country that arrests people for turning in firearms to the police .

Yeah, that's the article included in the post from a few days ago.

I was dumbstruck when I read all the bullshit.

Yup. When the election rolls around, it's the first question I'm going to be asking my local reps what their plan is.
