Fix my gun / Modding What Fixed My TM22 Light Strike Problems
My tm22 had tons of light strikes, even after being sent in for warranty "repair" twice. I finally got it working reliably by doing two of the suggested fixes people recommend. Neither of these fixes worked on their own. The trick was removing the left extractor AND cutting a few coils off the firing pin spring. Just sharing this for others who are having light strike problems with their tm22s. I avoided cutting the spring for a long time because I didn't want to void the warranty, but the warranty "repairs" were useless in my experience

I theorized that the firing pin (retaining?) spring on my TM-22 (A-18) is the prime reason for the light strikes I've been getting.
How much of it did you chop off?

About 3 coils. I did 1.5 coils first, then another coil, then another .5 or so

Yep, the firing pin return spring is too much. I cut 3 coils off mine and it runs way better now. It's also still doing its job: no firing pin marks on the rim from dropping the bolt. https://youtube.com/shorts/5T67CNcoV_w

Which model of TM22 are we talking here?
Feather?
Flash?
Pro?

Mine is a pro, but I'd guess the bolt carrier/extractors/firing pin are the same on all of them

Ah, I was wondering.
I’ve got a pro 12”, so far no issues in about 2K rounds. Cycles HV and SS.
Maybe I’ve just got lucky so far.

Seems like most people don't have issues, but it's a real bummer to get a lemon. I got mine right after they the warranties switched from O'Dell to SRFC, unfortunately. I've heard that O'Dell does great warranty repairs

Sending a warranty repair to SFRC is like sending it on a deep space mission, will be years before you see it again

I’m a bit hesitant with cutting my spring, mostly because in slow mo, I see it fully cycle all the way back, so im not sure that would actually be the issue - unless it’s causing something else that’s not about setting the hammer far down enough?

That's a different spring - I'm talking about the spring in the bolt around the firing pin which creates resistance of the firing pin going forward when struck by the hammer

Anybody reading this, this is why you just buy a 10/22. I don't care how "cool" some turkshit looks, it's not normal or ok to be re-engineering your gun to make it work

It's my only Turkish gun, and I don't plan on buying a Turkish gun ever again lol

Interesting I never would’ve thought about making the spring lighter so it isn’t as hard to travel
But I did do something different than those. I removed the hammer spring and shined it with whatever I had to my the hammer have more smack. Seems to have worked a bit aswell
