Application / Regulation advice Question about purchase risk?

So I have just got my PAL and I am mostly looking at buying a bolt-action historic rifle out of interest in owning one and shooting it probably a couple times a year.

One thing that has struck me is the posts about the new Mikasi and another which has a similar vibe to it. Are those of you purchasing these mostly just eating the risk of more confusing and random bans, or is there something about these rifles that make them a more safe purchase?

I was googling if it was possible to get a 22lr M1 Clone, which I found, only to realise it had been banned as part of sweeping regulation on M1 Carbine-appearing rifles, which is about as nonsensical as it gets.

You can get a ruger 10/22 then buy a conversion kit and do it yourself

Same here with the cash flow, so I now only get to watch others get cool stuff and get tiny bit of that joy as it radiates.

Nobody knows if new rifles might be banned. There is no rhyme or reason to what gets banned except that it looks scary to people who know nothing about firearms. That said, for an old milsurp bolt-action you're probably at low risk of the ban hammer coming down. I'd be much more wary of the new semi-auto 5.56s if you can't afford it becoming a paperweight.

The rifle that is most functionally able to keep you safe is a safe purchase.

Keep in mind when a rifle get banned they can't take it from you. Its future purchases/import/transfer that is banned.
