Buy recommendations Long range rifle

Hey all
Looking for a long range rifle and need help from people that know more than me about it. So I am thinking about 6.5 creedmoor or 338 lupa. I will probably not fire more than 2000 yards so think the 6.5 should be good any help would help. My budget is 8-15 for rile and scope feel free to send what you think you would buy

What's the purpose? Hunting or just target?

2000 yards is not an easy shot in any way. You'll need practice to get there and 338 will cost you a fortune for that.

Not to mention it's not going to be enjoyable to shoot a lot given its power.

If it's just target I don't see a point in going 338.

If it's hunting, that's incredibly unethical.

The fact you need to ask though and say you don't need much knowledge and seems you've skipped 500 yards and 1000 yards. I feel like this is just a flaunt of disposable income if you'd even be comparing these two given they are incredibly different price ranges

Would all depend. Realistically if you need to ask all this you don't have the skill for it to matter. Whether you buy a sub moa gun or 1 or 2moa you likely can't shoot it anyways.

You're so focused on gun and price completely ignoring the fact of clarity in optics and the skill/fundamentals that shooting 1000+ takes.

I'll spend $6000 on an optic way before I spend $6000 on a rifle and throw a $700 optic on it.

Will you even be reloading? Or do you expect to do this with factory ammo? Cause factory ammo isn't consistent enough for the most part.

Will you be buying other accessories that you'll need for this? Have you ever even looked into ballistics to understand what you need to do for 1000 or 2000 yards?

What about a wind reading?

You can buy a $15000 rifle and someone that actually knows what they're doing will out shoot you with a $1500 rifle.

Will you be going moa or mrad for optic? Do you know the difference?

What about a bipod and chassis?

If I was budgeting that much I'd be doing an action barrel build, not a factory rifle.

Either khales or s&b optic.

Why not consider a 6.5prc?

Do more research and feel how the gun is to be behind.

What works for one won't work for the other.

Just like with clay shooting. One might love the fit of a k80 or guerini, another won't. But just because you buy a $30k perazzi or Beretta sl2, doesn't mean you'll shoot like a AA

You can throw all the money you want at the rifle, it won't make you a better shot.

If you're really serious about hitting 2000 yards get something cheaper and get some actual training.

I'd say aim for $3000 or less on rifle $6000+ for optic. The rest of that budget on the other gear and training.

Maybe a Sako s20 precision and nightforce atacr.
