But how? Suppressors are ILLEGAL.

An important question is whether this is a Canadian owned and registered boat.

Where I am, we see a fair number of US registry fresh water craft. And in most cases "border and customs inspection" consists of picking up a phone at the marina and talking to a CBP officer. (I think, but do not actually know, that bigger moorages use a video phone system)

The important thing here is that an American can easily own a suppressor legally back home. Then bring it along and simply fail to declare it.

In the US, the suppressor is legally kind of a Registered Weapon in its own right. You have to tell the feds and get a tax stamp. But the tax was set to 0$ a while back. So a guy with one suppressor fitted to a single pistol is a guy I assume fully intended to take the device back home after his trip to Canada.

Do you think the baggies of meth and fent were also legally registered back home?
