Buy recommendations Differences between Makasi MK15 depending on importer
I spoke with a retailer today after North Sylva posted online that the Makasi rifles they would be importing would have 15” handguards.
Sounds like the rifles being distributed by Gravel will have 12” handguards, and that the longer handguard are exclusive to the ones being brought in by North Sylva.
Its great that they’re making the rifle better for the Canadian market (no giant barrel with short handguard) but also unfortunate that some people that placed pre-orders with retailers through Gravel will end up getting what they might consider a worse product.

I spoke to (grilled) multiple of the Sylva guys at Taccom this weekend.
As well as handguard size, handguard is now also clamped on by two bolts, fixing the marring issue on the barrel nut with the misaligned bolt.
Gravel are bringing in the Non-QC'd Makasis.
Theres no way to know which you're getting as multiple retailers buy from both importers, unless your store lists two different SKUs and uses accurate/updated product photos where you can spot the differences.
Sylva has a book of 3000+ backorders, bringing in maybe 500 at a time, and needing to spread those evenly across their stores to remain fair. They said its going to take a while to clear the current backlog.

So Gravel is going to bring in a whole shipment of sub-par rifles?
That seems.. Really weird. I hope that's not the case.

Yeah. I thought the same. Take it with a pinch of salt as one should do.
I found it kinda dirty that Sylva were just openly shit talking Gravel2

It also seems weird that Gravel would be bringing in non-QC'd Makasis... And yet there's no indication they'll be arriving in stores earlier than Sylva's, despite the extra time it takes to manufacture and touch up the ones Sylva is getting.
Anything's possible but yeah. Pinch of salt seems wise.

I wonder how Brigade is running two different production lines.

I have a hard time believing ns is getting extra qc from a retailer point of view

So unless you buy one from North Sylva, you’re likely going to end up getting the non QC’d one with the 12” handguard?
Yikes…

what about marstar?

Yes, but if you already placed a pre order before hand with MARSTAR, you will need to contact them to switch to the 15 inch handguard model

If you got a pre-order with Bullseye North you can email them to change your order to the 15" handguard version.

Glad to hear that all rifles will have the QC fixes. So it’s probably just the handguard that’s different. Personally I want the longer handguard for aesthetics and increased ‘rail-estate’ to bolt more garbage onto my rifle

Damn, thanks for the heads up, I didn't know that there was an incoming 15" version from NS with QC fixes
Checked my preorder and I had the 12" version, sent an email to switch to the 15"

Then people would cancel their early preorders on 12” handguard to buy 15”.

the 15" handguard looks decent. A TNA reverse can should tuck a little bit into it.

I just emailed RDSC and got my order changed to the 15" handguard. They estimate late October/early November.

Idc about the length of the handguard. I rather go to the range with a rifle.

I personally would much rather wait a little longer if it meant a longer handguard. Different strokes. A choice would be nice

Do we know which stores are importing from which distributor?
I wonder where Tenda is getting their rifles from.
