Riverside 215(I think) made by Stevens some point between 1914 & 1930.

yes the barrels are chromed, apparently it was used to shoot rats in a barn…all hail the rat blaster, a scattergat like this deserves to be in Loydminster to keep wild rose country free of vermin. I plan to restore the stock and make it pretty again somehow.

Huh, what's it chambered in? Very interesting and minimalistic hammer design, pretty cool! Love the rabbit eared SXS's. Good luck to you in your rat blasting adventures!

The hammer design is actually referred to as “Dolphin hammers”, I guess because they sort of resemble a marine mammal. Lockup is very tight, hammers do rebound a bit which seems to be a thing with these old sxs shotguns. 

The only time I ever have shot rats were some dead ones that my dad wanted to celebrate catching in the traps on his back deck by taping them to a board and blasting at them from 100 meters away with SKS’s. The vultures are well that day.

Very interesting info, never heard of dolphin hammers before! A very handy and easy to buy chambering, and a very unique looking external hammered SxS no doubt.

Shooting rats with an SKS damn, if the vultures were eating them they'd probably have nice bite sized pieces, ha ha.
