Is this worth taking time out to attend / has anyone been before? Never been to a gun show so not really sure what to expect 🤷🏽‍♂️

As long as you know what youre looking for or have a good idea of values of things gunshows are good to go to. Lots of boomer tables with prices designed to take advantage of the uneducated at these things, we usually do the Edmonton one (Sept 19/20 is the next one) and run sales at it and clean up which makes all the boomer tables pull their hair out, which is fun in its own way lol.

Oh boy I can piss people off with this one. I went there for a lot of years. Set up tables for plenty of those years. We sold GUNS when we would set up there.

Nowadays when you go there it’s just a place for people to sell old military books. I remember going last year for old times sake and I think there were three or four tables with guns. The rest of the show was just a swap meet for so much random crap and half of it wasn’t even gun related crap either.

It’s my opinion that gun shows should be primarily focused on guns. Knick knacks aren’t a bad thing by any means but I find a problem when there are people that want to sell guns that are turned down tables for people that are selling fake war medals and books.

I've been a couple of times, don't remember it being anything special. Just your average community center gun show.

I didnt find it worth the price of admission when I went last year. If it was a dollar or 2 then it'd be worth it lol. I am however a big fan of the Easter Weekend show, I literally plan vacations around that one haha. The Easter Show has changed a fair bit post bans. Before the bans it covered the entire firearm spectrum in Canada, like if u had never seen or handled something rare like a Valmet or Type 88, it was the place to go. Many would want you to believe that there is no deals to be had there.... that is simply incorrect. There is always good deals. They just disappear in the first 30 mins. Since the bans really only the historical arms portion of the show remains. Still well worth the price of admission IMO if your any kind of firearm enthusiast.

Gun shows are hit or miss. I found a single (one) 1100 round crate of 7.62x39 on clips at a Calgary gun show earlier this year (the Easter show) for $500 after getting there at exactly 9am and running around the entire place like a maniac as soon as it opened, so that was a win. But it was a weird ratio of booksellers and knife sellers to actual gun sellers. I also picked up a 1973 Ruger M77 in .220 Swift with a 26" BBL for $700 at the one in Claresholm, which is like ~$1000 less than they typically go for, so that was a legit score. If you go bright and early knowing exactly what you want, you'll be better off than if you go at the end of the day hoping to find something cool that the early birds missed.
