Gun and gear reviews The Adler 500 is an absolute piece of shit and should be avoided at all costs

The barrel nut comes loose every 10 rounds, the muzzle flash becomes off center the first time you tighten the barrel nut. The chassis also comes loose every 10 or so shots. The screws are already showing significant wear from repeated tightening. It's basically unusable. I don't even know what to do with this thing now.

I guess a semi auto 223 for $1000 in current year was too good to be true

u/TheSockington 6d ago

.223 lever action seems to be the safe bet

u/Lumindan 6d ago

Henry supreme is very solid.

u/ShinyRainier 6d ago

Agreed. Just picked one up the other day

u/Iokua_CDN 5d ago

Still not for 1k though :(

u/Eglitarian 5d ago

Alcor .223 hasn’t been giving me any issues yet.

u/WeightedDips95 5d ago

That’s good to hear. Those run like 1.5 new though before tax + tip

u/Eglitarian 5d ago

Kinda worth it for the massive improvement it is over the AD500, but they can be found on sale for $1200 sometimes. Kodiak and Tenda sell it for $1400.

Still not bad for a decent semi auto that runs AR mags and has some decent aftermarket hardware to get it to this:

That’s a decent looking rifle

Gotta love how the ban was meant to prevent harm and now all that's left of semi autos are sketchy junk which is only going to inevitably injure people.

5

u/WeightedDips95 5d ago

I see what you’re saying but it wasn’t meant to prevent harm

2

u/4r4nd0mninj4 5d ago

Yep. It was meant to drum up support from Quebec voters.

u/HackDartBreakHeart 6d ago

Just dunk the whole thing in a tray of threadlocker

17

u/TheBulletBuddy 6d ago

Don't take this the wrong way, but did you damage all the screws/threads when you were taking it apart? Are you tightening everything up to spec? Seems super wonky that EVERYTHING is just loose and falling apart.

Sounds like a warranty claim to me either way, that sucks. Really hope you somehow find a resolution to this. I've been following your posts as they come up and it sucks to be having issues so frequently.

I’ve never met a screw that I couldn’t cement in place with locktite

1

u/thxxx1337 6d ago

It's the barrel nut I'm hesitant to loctite. I'm not as worried about the chassis

4

u/TopLemon3678 6d ago

Someone else had this issue with the nut, maybe thread tape?

3

u/717Luxx 5d ago

youd need high temp loctite for the barrel nut. most loctite formulas are meant to give way when heated, making them impermanent and increasing ease of maintenance for parts that you dont want to weld the threads on.

2

u/SirKickBan 5d ago

If I recall from what other people have reported, the AD500's barrel nut needs to come off if you want to access the BCG or gas system.

2

u/justchillingindapool 5d ago

Try a rubber o ring. Get the proper size for the barrel. Measure it out, princess auto sells o rings affordable and screw the barrel nut hand tight against the ring. Ive done this on all mine and they dont come loose and easy to take off.

3

u/thxxx1337 6d ago

I didn't take anything apart until it started rattling. That was 20 shots in.

6

u/HappyCan7250 5d ago

My handguard was loose after 20rd too, and then firing pin snapped. Already started warranty claim on it

2

u/TheBulletBuddy 6d ago

Is everything being torqued to spec with clean threads?

3

u/StrangeSmellz 5d ago

Where are you going to find TQ specs for that thing lol

1

u/TheBulletBuddy 5d ago

Couldn't tell ya, I was more so trying to figure out if buddy is just using what's on hand to tighten it, or if they're taking a wrench or ratchet to it and getting some real leverage on there, and if threads are full of sh##, then that cant be helping the issue haha

57

u/StrangeSmellz 6d ago

Ya'll gotta stop buying no name guns. Even a cheap gun from a decent maker is way better off than a paper weight. That and you'll never get parts for it.

23

u/GabRB26DETT 5d ago

We yearn for anything semi-auto, man

7

u/jmz-jmz 6d ago

Sorry to hear that. Not that you should have to, but have you tried blue locktite on all the screws that are backing out? Might help.

1

u/thxxx1337 6d ago

I'm deciding between blue and orange, that'll be my next step

6

u/LongjumpingChipmunk 6d ago

Turks got another one.

5

u/EnggyAlex Alex's Homebrew 6d ago

Saw one in local shop for repair, bolt dig deap into the receiver and the whole action siezed

5

u/Geralt-of-Rivai 5d ago

2500+ rounds through mine not one issue. Fingers crossed!

2

u/Acc4Wtf 5d ago

Same, just less rounds fired. Loctite the loose bits lol, not a big deal.

2

u/Geralt-of-Rivai 5d ago

Now the Tommy stuff I put on it, that's a different story, those all failed. But the actual rifle itself has been awesome for me

9

u/jayecal 6d ago

This is the risk with every Turkish gun. The quality control is just not there to guarantee that you'll get a solid and reliable firearm for long term.

I've seen people buys these guns and be like "it made it to 100 rounds with no issue so it's good". But the test isn't 100 or 500 rounds. It's does this last 1k or even 10k.

2

u/boomstickjonny 6d ago

Im wondering if this is a new thing. I got a Turkish shotgun for $400 at a gun show years ago and its given me zero problems with god knows how many rounds ive put through it.

1

u/jayecal 5d ago

It's not a new thing.

Problems with Turkish guns extends back at least 6 years.

The difference between then and now though is that before they had a lot more competition and people weren't buying them as frequently. (Though when they did it was common they had issues then too. And previously it was a lot more shotguns.)

Like if you had the option of a Tavor, an APC, an m1 garand, a Savage Axis, Tikka and all the others why go with the Turkish gun when you have known good names brands or proven stuff. Especially if the price for the known good isn't that much more.

0

u/boomstickjonny 5d ago

Alot of people I know bought Turkish guns around the same time and never had problems either but I get what your saying. If your paying a comparable price why not just go with something that has brand dependability. Though throwing the tavor into that conversation isnt a fair play, my tavor cost more than half of my collection combined.

Why do they all copy Benelli m4’s stock😭

19

u/Only-Cap3497 6d ago

Because the liberals will ban anything with a buffer tube it seems

12

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 6d ago

Because for the longest of times Turkey is essentially banned from making rifles

All they made were handguns and shotguns, including tons of M4 clones

1

u/IcySkyDream 5d ago

Who banned Turkey from making rifles?!

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 5d ago

The Turkish government.

The TLDR was that, for the longest of times, getting a centrefire rifle manufacturing license was very difficult. Civillian semiauto rifle ownership was also very limited (mostly 22LR and PCC), so there were little to no incentives for Turkish manufacturers to make them.

This is also why you see Turkish shotguns in the shape of popular rifles. AR-15, AK, G3, AUG, etc., because shotgun licenses are a lot easier to get there.

1

u/IcySkyDream 5d ago

Ahh ok, thank you. 🙏

I missed out on the micro 45 revolver thing that TI just brought in, dammit.

3

u/Dickastigmatism 5d ago

Because I'm pretty sure this is a shotgun action chambered in 556

3

u/kapanak 5d ago

It's the Benelli R1 action, which is based on the M4 shotgun gas-operated action but Benelli themselves adapted it for large calibre rifle rounds. They even made a version for .223 with the Benelli MR1 (now prohibited). These Turkish clones aren't doing any kind of innovation or reinvention here.

2

u/kapanak 5d ago

Basically all these Turkish semi-autos are a variant of either Benelli R1 or Benelli M4, both of which have some form of the ARGO system (the now-banned Benelli MR1 which was in .223 was the same). And since M4-based Turknelli/Turkenelli clones took off, there's such a surplus of parts that it just makes sense for them to reuse that stock over and over and over.

Hi, fellow AD500a owner here.

. Mine operates flawlessly, happy with the rifle especially for the price. Yes, it's prone to things getting knocked loose.

. Since applying Loctite, no more issues. Use orange for the barrel nut, blue for handguard screws.

. It's really not a big deal, this gun doesn't deserve the hate it's getting.

1

u/thxxx1337 5d ago

I will remain cautiously optimistic. Thanks for letting me know it worked for you

3

u/Acc4Wtf 5d ago

No problem, maybe consider adding an EDIT: at the top of your post mentioning the Loctite and that you might have overreacted a bit.

. It would suck if people make up their minds about something they've never tried.

. Also if you decide to sell this one day, you don't want this to be the first thing that pops up lol. It's honestly not a bad gun, just needs some Loctite Lovin'

1

u/thxxx1337 5d ago

I'm already opened a ticket with the warranty gunsmith. I'm going to wait for their advice first before I start doing anything myself.

5

u/Acc4Wtf 5d ago

SFRC right? I believe they're the sole warranty provider in Canada. I'm curious to hear what they say.

. But you already know the issue, stuffs getting knocked loose. No clue how they'd even be able to remedy that other than applying the Loctite for you.

. It's Turkish QC, Loctite and call it a day! Orange is like 3x stronger than blue, doesn't require heat to remove. Can be found on Amazon for like 15 bucks.

3

u/Vahuo89 5d ago

Sounds like you got a bad lemon there

2

u/Slow-Jeweler363 6d ago

All the Turkish guns are a joke.

2

u/HappyCan7250 5d ago

Firing pin broke on mine after 20rd. They are going to be swamped with warranty claims. Honestly, this thing makes me love my Crusader Backland Comp even more surprisingly.

The rifle shot quite well for 20rd, then multiple clicks with no bang, noticed my firing pin was gone. A whole 20 rounds! Didn't jam at all at least.

Hadn't heard too many complaints on the 308s but clearly they just slapped these together out of the shittiest scrap metal around

2

u/Bushido_Plan 6d ago

Oof, brutal. I know somebody who has one on the way... going to let him know of this just in case.

2

u/Acc4Wtf 5d ago

Mine's given me no problems, I don't consider applying Loctite a problem. Tell your friend to apply blue Loctite to the handguard screws, mine were torqued around 30-35 inch pounds. Apply orange Loctite to the barrel nut.

1

u/Bushido_Plan 5d ago

Thanks! Going to share this info with him, much appreciated.

1

u/Rogan403 5d ago

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Buy once, cry once.

1

u/Alexander4848 5d ago

Do I need to even look up where this gun is manufactured?? Buy Turkshit, get Turkshit

1

u/Cb1receptor 5d ago

Glue the replacement screws when you buy them.

1

u/Smart_Letter366 4d ago

I personally found the Chimera's version to be far better built in comparison. The Alcor was far sloppier for fit, and the .308 was a nightmare.

0

u/DougMacRay617 6d ago

Wow what a suprise. This is what u get for buying turkshit, i hope you learn from your mistake

1

u/Grouchy-Lemon2350 6d ago

Half of my arsenal is “turkshit” and it’s been flawless since day one. Particularly my Canucks, Stoeger and TNA VR-66, all saw 2K+ rounds.

They are some of the only affordable guns left in 2026 Canada and many of them work fine.

2

u/thxxx1337 6d ago

This thing is literally my first bad turk gun tbh I have nothing bad to say about my Canucks or my Pallas

2

u/LumberjackCDN Gold'n Loan Outfitters & Pawn 5d ago

Canuck is a step above other turkish stuff when it comes to qc imo

1

u/DougMacRay617 5d ago

Go buy a lottery ticket

0

u/BrotherLefthand 5d ago

And you'll buy the next turkish piece of shit that comes to market anyway...

0

u/Otherwise_Rub_9515 5d ago

Buddy...if it's Canadian or Turkish it's absolute dog shit.

u/NBfe1 1d ago

Every Adler is shit
