Fix my gun Tna mag adapter, magazine keeps falling out?

Hey there,

Anyone out there do all the mods to add the TNA magwell adapter to their SKS, only for your magazine to pop out without pressing the release button when cycling the bolt? I took the magwell off along with the magazine to try to see if itd fall out, and pressing down with my thumb on the most forward part of the top of the magazine makes it pop out too. Id be inclined to believe that the magwell is the issue itself, but figured id see what others are saying first before trying to return it or getting a new one?

Try adjusting the mag catch.

Use a punch or pen to push the mag release enough so that the opposite side is free to spin. Then tighten it one full turn so that it seats deeper (Clockwise when looking down at it).

Good suggestion, thought this would fix it but turned it 3 times total with nothing changing unfortunately.

When you insert a mag, does it audibly click into place and does the mag release button pop out?

If not, the catch isn't engaging. If there is a little play, try wiggling the magazine around in the well and see if you can get it to click in place. If you have other magazines, try those as well.

If you can get it to click in, should be really difficult to remove without using the mag release.

Yup, if im just inserting the magazine in the magwell itself, or if both are installed onto the receiver while the bolt is open, the magazine will click in, in both scenarios.

But if the bolts open, just a little bit of pressure at the top of the most forward part of the magazine pops it out. And if its just the magwell + magazine, the same thing just a bit more pressure needed. Even after adjusting the mag release, gonna have to get another mag and test it out but this one was brand new so not sure if anything will change

Hmm, if its clicking in place, the catch should be engaging, but the way you describe, it sounds like its only catching on the rear or only partially. Wonder if the catch is sitting a little angled, letting magazine skip over it when you apply the pressure.

With mag in, look at the catch (opposite side of the button) and see if its slightly angled out towards the top, you might be able to push in the part that's sticking out to get it to fully engage.

If that does it, you prob gonna have to tighten up the pieces to reduce any wobble in the parts, I believe TNA uses 3/32 allen hex screws for the mag release on both sides.

So TNA got back to me and told me what the issue was. I ended up bending the top part of the cut out to match the bottom part, and it seemed to do the trick. Now its catching onto the release properly. Appreciate you helping out!

Also try adjusting the magazine. The top section, where the mag catch sits can be in too far. We see that with some of the CPD mags. Send in a email if you want some pictures to explain better
