So I'm considering this build - I need ya'alls suggestions for furniture that can make this build better, more aesthetic. Budget is not really a problem. Parts list so far:
Cross Mags/STANAG (I like the straight mag look)
Magpul Bipod MLOK
Magpul Grip / BCM Grip - Black
BCM angled foregrip
Knight Armament Folding Micro Iron Sights
Arken EP8
Magpul Rail Covers
Considering a spearhead self-timing muzzle break as well
Anything from MDT is fantastic I have so many parts/accessories and a chassis from them now lol I have the GRND-POD on arca rail it’s really nice for the price
A forgrip doesn't really make sense on these, but if you did want one you couldn't mount it on the place you have it in this picture. Bipod is completely dependent on if you plan on shooting this at the range mostly or a bush gun / crown land plinker. As far as optic goes id say an LPVO is a fine choice
Edit: magpul bipods are dog shit, consider another if you decide you need one
I was mistaken, i forgot there was an mlok section there, still doesn't make sense to put one there even for this "enfield style" 😆 of shooting. But to each their own.
Things you should be aware of:
Handguard is pretty tight to the barrel so anything mlock will need to be short screws/low profile. I don’t remember which specific grip I tried putting on there at one point but the screws would hit the barrel.
1:7 twist likes heavier cartridges - i pretty much only use PMC Xtac OTM 77g now, 55g doesn’t shoot nearly as well.
Mine doesn’t like to feed from anything other than the OEM CZ mags. Lots of people have no issues with PMags, mine doesn’t like them. It’s like they sit too far up and the bolt catches the feed lips forcing the mag forward and down. Probably specific to mine, but I would only buy one of whatever aftermarket to make sure it’s good before grabbing a bunch. Not a huge deal for me as I have 4 of the CZ 5/10 rounders.
I'd consider normal steely 10 round mags. Unless you're running 55 grain ammo, green tips will bind in cross mags since the bodies are so thick and are 1 blonde C hair longer than the LAP's COAL
I don't see why they wouldn't, to be fair I haven't owned a trail because 2 moa from factory isn't good. But I have yet to have cross mags work in systems like Gen 1 & 2 wk 180, CZ bren 2 or Ruger American Ranch gen 2, all of which run flawlessly with 10 round steel mags
I don’t know how far you’re planning on shooting but I always thought a close/mid setup on one of these would be cool. Slap a high end red dot and magnifier combo on there.
I won't lie, I think the Trail looks better with NO Vertical Grip or even angled foregrip. But that's personal opinion.
I've grown to like the Stock, but my best look would be getting a 1913 stock adaptor and putting a folding stock with adjustable length of pull and an adjustable cheek riser. That looks amazing.
Straight mag 10/10
Folding sights 10/10
I did personally have trouble fitting a LPVO on, it felt like it stuck out a lot and made it a bit hard to fit the rear sight. That being said, a bit higher mount and it would have been just fine. At the time i actually used the rear sight in Front of the scope and it was a notch and post, kinda like a bolt action Ak47. It was cool but I like the flip up better.
Muzzle device, I just recommend not getting too long of one. The gun feels cool with its 16 inch barrel and it's a bit more rare to find 16 inch bolt actions, so I wouldn't want to take that away.
Last word of advice, Less is more with this gun! Making it a lightweight, compact gun that folds up to 27 inches is awesome. Weighed down an bulky from a bunch of accessories and it's kinda a pig. So keep it light and relatively simple if you can!
Go for the KLGrid reticle on the EP8, if that's your jam. KLBox is... Not so good, imo. A very odd reticle to actually use.
Regarding muzzle brakes, it's probably fine on a .223, but running an aggressive brake (A PA Hypertap) on my 7.62x39 made the stock occasionally collapse due to some very strange harmonics. Perfectly fine without one or with a radial brake.
