Needed to get a baseline zero on some things and snuck out before dinner for some shots.
The Enfield came with a modified mount that is slightly canted downward and needed a scope in 1” diameter with more elevation adjustment than the Leupold 3-9 American Marksman (60MOA). The Crossfire HD 2-7 fit the bill with 90MOA.
I was able to get a baseline at 25yards in the short time window I had for today on the Supreme and Enfield. I’ll walk out a target further next time but happy that things are in the ballpark. Yeah the Enfield is dumb but it shoots well.
It could never go back to original configuration with the milled off rear iron sight bracket. Previous owner also cut up an original No32 scope mount to cobble it onto the receiver.
It was silly expensive but is well made from a dude halfway around the world. With shipping and duty, it was close to $400. I plan on keeping this No5 for a long time and it was worth it to me
The Enfield is meant to ruffle feathers and does so fantastically. There’s lot of milspec ones out there and this one had been messed with already. It certainly has a kick to it.
The Henry I’ve only put a couple of boxes of ammo through. The original iron sight has some easy adjustments but I can’t see for shit at a distance. The lever cycles quick and hasn’t given me any sort of issues. I’ve handed it to a few folks at the range and they baby the cycle sometimes (borrowed gun worry probably) and sometimes ejection doesn’t work as well. Absolutely user error there versus the gun.
The S&W in 357 is an absolute favourite of mine with the Vortex Venom 1-6. Everyone compliments how good the sight picture is and 1x makes for fun red dot feels with 6x being able to spot hits further out. I only had a paper target at 25yards yesterday, but it sank 11rounds quickly into one pocket without taking much of a precision aiming. It certainly could do better with more time between shots. Was spot on pinging my 4” steel targets at 50 and slight half target holdover at 100yards.
I've been interested in doing something like this with an already Bubba'd Lee Enfield of mine, from what I've seen it's just shotgun folding stocks in place of the og stock, as for what model would fit the Lee Enfield the best (870,590, etc.) I don't know haven't done it myself yet
