Misc online purchase shipping

Recently made my first ever online purchase, I bought a non restricted rifle but I might be out of town on the estimated delivery date, if so can anyone sign for it or would I need someone with a PAL to do it?

No, they only need to be over 19 and have ID for the same address. He post office doesn’t look at PALs.

Yes i understand thats what the post office requires. However the law requires the person who purchased the gun to be the one picking it up otherwise they are in unauthorized possession of a firearm

Don't think about the law too much when picking up a firearm from the post office or it starts getting awkward anyways lol.

ok. Good point. Just saying that CP hands them over with the ID over 19 and same address as they don’t check the contents.

*I believe that a package is legally just a package until it is opened. Henceforth, not a gun.

*not legal advise.

There’s surely some carve-outs for the mail carrier and all the postal system handlers that will technically have that firearm in their possession while not having a valid PAL during the whole process.

/u/Varsil care to weigh in? Or would this be worthy of a whole video?

Anyone over 18 with the same address as you can pick it up at the post office, shoppers drugmart counter. Its just a box . Anyone over 18 can sign for it at your home. If it was shipped correctly, over 18 signature should be required.

Anyone over 19 with ID for the same address. If it’s Canada Post you have 2 weeks to pick it up. They don’t ask for PAL.

It’ll have to be you. The carrier won’t ask for the PAL but they’ll ask for ID

I've never presented ID or even confirmed my name. I've had ammo left at the door.

UPS has dropped of cases of ammo on my step on many occasions, as well as two rifles. Pretty fucked.

I’ve ordered 3 guns online. At different times. And twice they just left it on my front step. No signature. Even though it said signature required. The other time I had to just pick it up at the Canada post office on the slip they left.

Edit. Sorry, all three shipments were through Canada post.

My favourite is when it says delivered but isn't on your front step and then they prove to you that Canada Post could totally have found every other package you've complained about in the past by finding what truck your gun is on in under 5 minutes.
