Shooting Sulun Spas 12 shooting and opinion after shooting
As mentioned in my previous post I got out an hour ago to shoot the sulun straight out the box. A few mishaps and issues considering its a turk gun, 1: Failure to feed/dual feed, my guess is that this was done with birdshot since I dont have anything else to use at the moment besides that, will get heavier loads Friday. 2: slight scraping with the pump action, just some paint getting scratched after slight use, doesn't affect the action just cosmetic. Feels like it may be actually decent for a Turkish gun when broken in, will cycle fine after used for a few hundred rounds is a guess (only have one other Turkish shotgun which is a panzer m4, this is better then that out the box) the video shows the 1 failure i had through two boxes of birdshot, will test tomorrow with semi more since I shot it once with semi

If I’m not mistaken this is also a “feature” on the real SPAS12

To be fair the fact it cycled most of the mag tube with bird shot before any break in is pretty decent. And shooting at night rules apply to hunting as far as I understand them.
Nice work, I can’t wait to get mine.

I hope its good, feels good and will probably get some duck with it if it proves to be reliable

I plan on running it for dynamic shotgun competitions just for the vibe alone

Also I'm pretty sure I read that you need to run heavy red through it for the first little bit

u/classicfroger420 13d ago
Well, I believe some of the problems were probably caused by the original design, while others were simply Turkish-made gun issues. That’s a pretty vague way of putting it, though.

I could ask why even get this? But then I’d answer my own question and say why not? But I think I’d rather just get a 1301 or even the Canuck Operator over this, as cool as it looks.

Tbh I just had money to spend, and been a dream gun since I was a kid, Turkish or not still cool

See how many shells you can fit in it then check the magtube.. apparently theres capacity issues

u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
I had 3 inch birdshot and 2 3/4 shells, for the 3 inch I think I got 5+1 and the other shells was 6+1 and one more when ghostloaded

Alot of the issues your having could be related to "straight out of the box"... The packing grease/ oils aren't lube. I've seen used guns have a cement like coating..packing lube and GSR compiled together on the internals. Leaving a rigid, gritty, fuction feel. And they were mossbergs. A good quality gun. My rule is..run the action to get metal on metal wear.. Break it down, Clean it..remove metal shavings and and grease. And usually most semis need high brass/ hot loads for break in.

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but pretty much everywhere in Canada discharging a firearm after dusk although not explicitly illegal, there is only like 1-2 cases where it is allowed and judging from the video this would fall under neither of those exceptions.

Look man it's 2026, the bar is so low, I'm just glad they're not firing it into the fucking sky like the Germans are flying overhead, or the PAF for that matter
Also if you were morally questioning anything, from the video, it distinctly looks that they're firing into a berm

Its on my private property, im in the middle of nothing saskatchewan, there's a backstop too.

I thought target shooting was completely different then hunting regs on private land or I could be completely worng

u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
What are the exceptions, I never knew actually

u/GlizzyGuru 13d ago
Protecting your livestock from predators. Definitely something you should know.

Don't worry he was definitely shooting at a coyote stalking his livestock. Source: Trust me bro 👌

Basically it falls under careless use of a firearm and not knowing your target and beyond. Car headlights are not sufficient lighting for a firearm which can send projectiles miles.
The exceptions have to do with the provinces hunting regulations and shooting at an approved range with lighting that is adequate as decided by the CFO. I can’t speak for the provinces west of Quebec, but personally I know of no ranges that got this approval.
If you read through your provinces hunting regulations though I bet it will say all firearms have to be cased and unloaded after dusk. I think it might be Ontario maybe if you are caught shooting at night on crown land you have to basically prove you were target shooting and not hunting.
I can’t say 100% you are not able to do it, but I would bet my left nut you would get the book thrown at you if caught by RCMP or a CO. They take poaching very seriously and unfortunately for us night is a taboo time to be out with guns in the woods.
Understandably though it becomes significantly more dangerous to be in the woods at night if someone is shooting. I’m sure pretty much everyone on this subreddit would agree it looks bad on us as a community whether it’s legal or not. If someone were to get hurt who knows what else they would ban or try to take away. Poly is foaming at the mouth for one of us PAL holders to have that happen so they can ban all guns.

Hunting regulations apply to hunting.

u/TerminalSnood 13d ago
In my province the sections of our wildlife conservation act and its regulations involving firearms apply anywhere game may be found... which is outside. It's like that in most provinces.

u/emanon9046 13d ago
A CO will always assume you are hunting if you have a firearm in the woods. The onus is on the firearms owners to prove otherwise. If you want to chance it go ahead. But hunting at night is just not allowed outright in most provinces.

Well he is shooting birdshot out of a shotgun so I don't think that charge would stick in that case but I get your point
9
u/emanon9046 13d ago
I really don’t think it would matter what ammunition or firearm you are using in the end. They’ve made it pretty clear they don’t want us owning guns period. So although something may be technically legal it could just end up being unwanted attention from the groups trying to strip our abilities to own firearms. So the question we have to ask ourselves is how would this look to someone outside of our community. Which discharging a firearm at night is rarely justifiable and in most cases would be classified as careless use of a firearm which is such a blanket use charge that I wouldn’t dare risk arguing it in court. Do what you want but remember one firearm owners actions could very well affect every firearm owner in Canada.

I don’t mean it wouldn’t matter because of how far the projectiles went. I meant legally they don’t care what ammunition you were using they will still try to charge you. You guys all seem to forget even if you win the court case you still have to pay the lawyer and other legal costs incurred.

Get familiar with laws. People like you are the reason for ever tightening control. Ignorance is not an excuse in the eyes of the law.

u/greasygreenbastard 13d ago
absolute fudd-tier comment.
Actions like this video are deffo NOT the reason for tightening control. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Honestly pal shut the fuck up. Smooth brained shit like this is what pisses people off and makes them complain to police and politicians, which absolutely does not help our cause in trying to convince the general public that we are not a threat. Take your firearms safety seriously, and condemn behavior like this, because it absolutely makes things worse for the rest of us.

u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
Tbh i did forget to mention the safety procedures done before hand like mentioning the fact that there is a backstop close ahead of the camera and how isolated i was in that moment, many farmers around here do the same and even heard them shoot firearms i doubt are legal. This is not to dissuade the mistakes I made, but me as a young Canadian will definitely consider moving to a place where us firearm owners are not beaten down, its unfair. Despite that I appreciate your comment
-2
u/yycmobiletires 13d ago
I'm not saying you have to leave, I don't know how you could extrapolate that from me saying be aware of, and follow the rules.
"I think someone else does stuff that's wrong, and I think I took enough precautions to break the law" is not a defence of your actions. Don't do it again, and do some reading on the laws if you want to own guns here.
Our laws are restrictive, absolutely. That does not give you the right to not follow them. If that's how you feel, you shouldn't own firearms.
2
u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
No I did not mention the others as a basis of towards my mistakes, as I mentioned above in my post, I mentioned it as an indicator towards our current laws as a "jab" not to you but our system

u/MindYaBiznessMmk 11d ago
Just for this dumbass comment I’m going to go shoot my shit after dusk tonight, just for you ❤️

Why not unfold the stock? I've never found the SPAS "tacticool" with the stock folded, just makes it bulkier and harder to aim

2
u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
Tbh didnt remove the stock since it was stuck, I gotta use a flathead to loosen the tightness from factory

u/Additional_Lab_3979 13d ago
Are you mag dumping off the side of the road by the light of your headlights into some random person’s field? Cause that’s at least triple illegal
8
u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
Im on my own private property, I live in saskatchewan there's no one close by. Nearest road was 15 km away, there is a backstop not seen in the video. No need to worry
1
u/Additional_Lab_3979 13d ago
Oh Saskatchewan! Nvm then😂
6
u/realninjaaa_lover 13d ago
Honestly not to snitch or anything but I live somewhat near farms(within 100km) and sometime at night if you get within a few km of a farm you can hear the farmers shooting, they must have some fast trigger fingers and very large "pistol magazines" but good for them, doesn't seem like a threat too public safety.

Looks pretty dark...Its unsafe to discharge a firearm after dusk. Also, buy a Beretta.

Thanks for the video
Between here and CGN
Lets start talking about failures AFTER someone runs 2 to 300 rounds of slug/buckshot
My Benelli M4 did not run bird shout right out of the box either
I had to break it in with 100 buckshot/100 Slugs
Thanks for posting OP
