Misc Just Bought the Nanuk 994 Case. Need advice.

Post image

Hello people,

I just bought the Nanuk 994 case, but I am not sure whether I should keep both layers of foam or keep only one (see photo). With two layers, I feel like there is a lot of pressure on the scope and with only one layer, I fear the gun will move around.

For context, the case and the gun in it will soon travel 12 hours in the back of a truck.

Also, I would prefer not to cut out the shape of the gun into the foam as I plan to use the case for all my rifles.

Thanks in advance.

Does it close with 2? Or if you're more comfortable with one, close the case and shake, if the rifle moves, use 2. The scope can take some foam pressure i'm sure, and it should be roughly equal on both sides.

Further edit, cut the gun shape in the foam layer and nestle the gun in there, then there is no concern

It does close but I have to push it down slightly.

I'm probably being overconscious though.

Looks like you can fit an sks in there brother. Jokes aside keep both bits of foam if it closes nicely.

SKS is probably next hahaha.

I do have to push down slightly for it to close, but I'm probably being overconscious.

Are you not supposed to trace the rifle out of the top foam & cut it out for the rifle to sit in? That's what I did with one of my pelicans

Why tf would u take one foam out? If the gun fits with both then just leave it

The foam won't hurt your scope unless it's made in turkey, in which case it shouldn't have been on the gun anyway . That said, you can always go 1 layer and a gun sock or towel to keep it safe if it does move a bit
