$1000 for a turkish shotgun. Hell yeah.
A 1301 Mod2 isn't even 100% more expensive. Definitely worth trusting an unknown platform over anything else in the category!

But it looks like gun we cant have so its totally worth it!
I cant wait to see all the complaints š Turkish guns are a real flip of the coin

I emailed them and asked and they said 2-3 months for more

u/Otherwise_Rub_9515 16d ago
Maybe because 2 negatives cancel each other out it will be a decent gun?
The original was unreliable shit, Turkish guns are unreliable shit...Ā

u/CountryFine 16d ago
No one is buying this for its reliability haha. Everyone wants it simply because it looks iconic

I read on an earlier thread for this SG-12 "SPAS" that it'll be about 2 or 3 months...wasnt from TI specifically though, so can't confirm how accurate that is.
Just keep checking in to see if the "sold out" disappears.

Im old enough to have run the original...I'll just say that a cheek weld on that stock leaves a closer shave than a Gillette razor...

Real or not, everyone should spare the damage to your wallet this will cause. The SPAS is one of those guns hollywood made famous for all the wrong reasons. Basically only cause it looks cool. Beyond visual aesthetics though they are absolutely terrible guns. Do with that info what you will.

What a ridiculous take, owning certain guns can purely be about looks. This is a legendary icon of video game and cinema history, we were robbed of owning one for 32 years and now we can get our hands on them. This is probably one of the best releases in years for the Canadian gun market. Itās also backed with a lifetime warranty. I placed my order within 10 minutes of getting the email
1
u/Otherwise_Rub_9515 16d ago
But they were absolute dog shit and so are Turkish guns...Ā
It's everything you said but garbageĀ
1
u/Rogan403 16d ago
We weren't robbed of owning them for 32 years but were instead protected from wasting money on them due to them performing like trash for 32 years lol.
But you're right, it's perfectly fine buying a gun on looks as long as you're an informed purchaser. I personally like my firearms to also function well but to each their own.
Don't get me wrong though, I WANT this gun to be good, and will purchase one of they are. Just want people to be informed about what its potentially going function like before they commit a bit of change for one .

u/Scary-Detail-3206 16d ago
I also want one for the vibes. I am also waiting to see how the first round goes to make a decision. The original reportedly ran like shit, so maybe this will be an improvement.

u/HappyCan7250 16d ago
I would also assume basically everything functional internally is quite different (gas system, bolt etc). At least its from TI though who back everything with lifetime warranties. It's still cool though

u/Iokua_CDN 16d ago
Yup, based on a different receiver,Ā likely that other one they brought in that was both Pump amd Semi, just with spas looking furniture

u/Ustauk 16d ago
Here is a review of the Gen 2 , which I believe TI brought in.Ā You need to break it in with heavy shells before it can run lighter loads, but it apparently offers improvements on the original when it comes to loading and in the safety.Ā https://youtu.be/GIQyP-FSe3g?si=8dLm1N5R8CLFrhbj

Did they drop prohibition on them or something??? Or is this just a variant that isn't regulated yet by the dumbasses who for some reason are afraid of anything that appears in fictional media.
3
u/StrangePiper1 16d ago
Itās based off a non restricted base and just furniture to make it look cool. Time will tell if the horse cops will call it a āvariantā and ban it on looks.
1
u/lerateblanc 16d ago
Sick, what base does it use and is it more reliable than the Franchi?
N' yea honestly technically the original should be non-restricted and not lumped into a prohibited category since it isn't automatic, but they treated it like the Atchisson AA-12 as if it was fully automatic and did a game of follow the leader after the USA banned it saying that their ban was for gun control when the reality of it was that it was a trade ban which prohibited foreign made firearms that didn't pass a "sporting purposes" test in 1989 which inevitably the law was changed in 94 and heightened when, you guessed it, Clinton was in office and it got scaled to a full on ban listing the Spas-12 directly; commonwealth countries then followed suit with the whole "Scary black gun! The term "Military" is associated with it due to it's manufacturers designing it with that in mind! It's got metal, polymer, and is black!" with Canada ending up adding it to the prohibited category in 1995.
As is the case with most things, typically Canada ends up watching usually what the opinion is of everyone geopolitically before they just end up putting a policy in place after or speaking publicly on the media, the rest of the commonwealth following suit in the years ahead of Canada with the prohibition of the Spas. The policy mimicry stuff is obnoxious but our country seems to do that stuff a lot where the people in power just watch to see what the most popular vote is at the time by all the other countries which they then follow up with goin' "Yeah, I agree." and act like it ended up coming up out of parliament.
It's just such an unusual thing in general to see prohibition of firearms like the spas 12 considering the damn thing would fall under what is acceptable as a non-restricted firearm technically. But it SPECIFICALLY is in prohibition over the whole policy mimicry garbage that happened back in 95; they do try and make it sound as if that there'd be a reason for it to actually be prohibited, but the whole reality is just what everybody here already knows in that it's black, has polymer, has metal, and to nogunz people it looks like "ASSAULT" firearm.
It's just ironically a hilarious fact that everyone in the firearm communities tend to be like "Yeah it looks cool as hell but it functions like a piece of shit!" which the politicians seem to give no fucks about since it's all about the optics of policymaking for them and looking as if they're following the public's popular opinion towards stuff like that.
I can imagine that this thing's going to skyrocket in price if it hasn't already, the community always tends to grab up stuff real quick (for understandable reasons.).
I think I've heard of a few people who were claiming that the original was good in terms of it not apparently malfunctioning and everyone tended to respond telling them it was terrible even if it was cool, including the people that owned them; pretty sure the person claiming they were good probably ended up spending a ton of money on an original and were just coping over the amount of money they spent on it; don't get me wrong, it is cool, very cool, but it doesn't really change the facts of the original malfunctioning all the time.
I'm curious, if you have one of these already or if anyone else has 'em, does it work fine? I've got no clue what base the furniture this happens to be for so I'm unaware, haven't heard anyone who's used this one before. Also holy god, if they manage to try throwing this in the proh. category when it's just a base and furniture, that will be hilarious to see how that ends up with how dense they would look for trying to do that. The original being in that category already is one thing, but man, they'd be looking like their head was filled with sand if they tried it with this. I wouldn't be surprised if they try though, they eat up any chances for stuff like that. Always ludicrous to see whenever they try pumping out a list of new additions; Idunno why they don't just add a new category of sport to the olympics for how much and how quickly people can immolate dollar bills, they'd probably earn enough gold medals to melt down and restore our economy if a sport existed like that in the olympics existed.

It looks awesome just make sure you get the gen 2 version. Gen 1 version is cool but had few quirks that manufacturer improved on.

I understand the pop-culture lore behind this thing. But in 2026, I just don't understand the appeal. We have loads of better shotguns now, both pump and semi. And from everything I've read about the real thing, they were hit and miss as far as quality goes.
What am I missing here? Why is there a demand for this now? Not trying to be negative. Just trying to understand why.

Has to be a nostalgia thing paired with us not being able to own the real ones due to it being banned by name.

It's largely whimsical I think. As an 1887 owner I can say with no doubt that shotgun designs have come a long way since then, and yet, as I look over the catalogue of reliable semis, few if any bring me any aesthetic or shooting joy at all. I have a Maverick 88 that for cheap as it is, is still quite a bit more reliable and yet I grab my 1887 more often, for the fun of it.
Even for the guys with the super reliable Beretta or Benelli, they might want one of these just to goof off with, take out and feel like an action movie actor for a bit screwing around. Even if it isn't perfectly reliable, not all range toys have to be, it's probably how Turkey sells any of their oddball shotguns honestly.

u/AssignmentPutrid3197 16d ago
If no semi's bring you joy, you need to try a Browning A5 or light twelve. It just works and its a easy shoot
1
u/GreenMan165 16d ago
It's really the only semi I would consider at this point, and if I could put some time in on one I may be able to be convinced.
I just found shooting semi auto shotguns takes all the kinesthetic joy out of shooting a shotgun for me, every other manual action style I've tried, I've loved, I dunno what it is. Something about wracking shells in on a lever, pump, bolt, or sliding them into a breech loader is just way more satisfying and enjoyable for me.

u/Psycho_Doughboy 12d ago
I'm not buying it because it's a good shotgun. I'm buying it because I think its cool. That's pretty much it.

u/Rogan403 16d ago
You're correct. Other than looking cool theyre absolute trash. Shot a real one in the states many moons ago and it was supremely underwhelming to put it lightly.

Well real ones were more expensive and performed like shit so I doubt this one could be somehow better for less money.
