Tikka bolt trouble

Hey team.

Cleaned my Tikka T3X for the first time. Accidentally twisted the housing on the bolt body. Heard a loud click and now it's stuck in this position.

I think I may have accidentally dry fired the bolt while.it was disassembled.

Any tips on how to get it back?

Easiest will be looking at a youtube video before someone on here tries to direct you, will be a push the black into the bolt and twist left. Usually have to put a decent ish amount of force, have done it with my CZ’s enough times but they have a tool that comes with it

Do you know what terminology I should use to find the video? I tried searching and ontl found only found apart and reassembly without making this mistake. One even said not to do this, but didn't say how to fix it

Happened to me too. The videos on fixing this are shit. I had to use a solid plywood edge to press the pin back and turn it back into place. Find a video that shows bolt disassembly, and determine which way the bolt needs to turn to go back the other way. Press it in with some heft and turn the correct way.

Did you clean it by disassembling to remove the handle? Or do you mean you were just wiping the bolt down?

I was just cleaning the outside of the bolt and twisted it, did not disassemble

Should just be able to pull back and twist the rear of it, it'll be tough. There is a tool to help with disassembly/reassembly if you dont have one they can be 3d printed. It just helps give leverage without damaging anything

pure strenth can actually help you get them back. You really have to use some strength.

The trick I’ve always used was to put the cocking piece in its channel in the receiver, but have the bolt backwards facing away from the gun. Then push down on the back of the bolt, holding the cocking piece firmly in its channel, and twist the bolt. Should cock it back into place pretty easily.

i have always just rested it backwards on the rifle, and held it in place while cocking it again. then you can slide it back in.

Shoelace looped over the cocking indicator - pull back and twist. You most likely know that by now, but just in case other folks need to know…

Put it back and try recycling. You should be fine. If you didn’t disassemble the bolt, there shouldn’t be any problems at all.
