Application / Regulation advice Traffic stop

Hello just wondering if I’m legally transporting a firearm (non restricted) and I am pulled over by a police officer am i under obligation to inform the officer i have a firearm in the vehicle?

Exactly this, I’ve walked down the road carrying a gun in my hand and my only interaction with police has been them waving as they drove by. But I live in rural Nova Scotia where theres a gun in every home. I’d imagine i would get a different reaction if I lived in a more populated area

Man, how rural are we talking here? Also from NS and am struggling to think of a place where this would happen.

Edit: not trying to pry, I just find it legit surprising in this climate.

Further up, guysborough county. The cops tend to be pretty laid back in general, and are pretty good when it comes to guns, I’ve never had any issue carrying or transporting a gun. During hunting season it’s pretty common to see people walking on the road with a gun to get into the woods
