Application / Regulation advice Traffic stop

Hello just wondering if I’m legally transporting a firearm (non restricted) and I am pulled over by a police officer am i under obligation to inform the officer i have a firearm in the vehicle?

No. Unless you are specifically asked there is no reason to complicate what could be a routine traffic stop.

You can always decline to answer questions, probably the better route

Ian Runkle does say decline to answer. I understand the reason behind it. You don't want to consent to something that gives them the opening to find any infraction. In the end, the police either have the power and reason to detain you and work for it or they don't and the officer might just send you on your way because they judge it's not worth it.

I'm not going to argue one way or another. I trust his legal opinion.
