Adler AD500 .223. My initial experience has not been positive. Threw on a Vortext Triumph 3-9x40, some crap bipod from Amazon that I'll probably replace around Christmas, and a cross industry mag. Hoping the next time I hit the range this thing holds up longer than 40 rounds.

Feeding issues?

I had issues right away from how heavy it was but, I got over it and decided I'd just throw a bipod on it instead.

I did have one bullet jam and bend and it took forever to get out.

I've only put about 60 rounds in this thing, and the barrel came very loose. I'm worried that it's going to happen again, and the screws that hold the M lock chassis in place are already starting to strip.

Today while throwing on the bipod I noticed very obvious signs that someone has tried to screw something onto this chassis before and has scratched the metal, and I don't know what to do about that. On the one hand it's a part/ spot, I'll never use, on the other who the fuck does that and sells it as new. But I've also heard their customer service is garbage so how much do I want to fight this.

Mine only has 80 rounds of 5.56 through it so by no means a long term reliability review. However, in those 80 rounds I had absolutely zero feeding/cycling/ejecting/issues. It reminds me a lot of the Chimera (except my Chimera didn't like plastic mags).

. Also the bolt release worked flawlessly, and I ran 4 different mags with a combination of plastic and metal and they all worked perfectly.

. My muzzle brake got knocked loose and so did the hardgaurd screws which is annoying but not a big deal. I've removed the brake because I find it unnecessary. I'll put blue Loctite on the hg screws.

. The "barrel nut" is where things get interesting and potentially janky. If this gets knocked loose, which according to the manual must be tightened every 250 rounds, it could be dangerous I think.

. This is why I've got some orange Loctite on the way, 3x stronger than blue but shouldn't require heat to remove. I'm going to take it all apart and clean it, then apply the orange Loctite and let it cure for 24h. I don't shoot that often, mostly hunt so it's not a big deal to me when it comes to cleaning eventually.

My previous post someone also suggested orange loctite. I'm probably going to go that route if/when it comes loose again. I'm going to have to adjust my muzzle brake cause tightening the barrel seems to have misaligned it.

The whole Loctite the nut thing would probably be considered unacceptable to people who always clean after every shooting, or truly fire a lot.

. I get the feeling most people do not shoot a lot, and clean even less. For a ~$1000 semi auto in 2026, this doesn't seem so bad, all things considered.

. Yes, you could argue "just get an SKS" but that doesn't shoot 223/556. Sad reality of being a Canadian gun owner.

So far I’ve been having better luck with the Alcor .223. Put around 250 rounds through it since I got it without any jamming or feeding issues. Occasionally the bolt doesn’t lock back but that might be more a function of the mags i bought (magpul p-mag and lar-15s) than the gun since the mag it came with reliably locks bolt back on empty.

I have a bone to pick with Tommy enterprises though, got the handguard and it doesn’t fit properly and I can’t even get the gas block cap on to hold it in place, there’s no threads protruding enough.

Alcor got me interested.

I like the wood and I also like the kodiak trigger pack that makes it more like an AR

It’s like a Frankenstein of Turkish shotgun and AR parts. The shim that was between the stock and the receiver even says “12Ga” on it.

Aftermarket support for it has been decent between Kodiak, True North Arms, and crusader. Taking AR mags is nice too.

Also i have reservations about putting 556 through this muzzle brake? Did you try it? They fit?

You liking it so far???? Seems like a cheap way to get into a 223 semi auto honestly. With  sks prices  riding more and more, this gets you cheap 223, pistol mags and a much easier time mounting a scope for 1k

Honestly, not yet. After a couple times at the range I realized this thing needs a scope not a red dot it's too heavy and bulky. I'm hoping this new setup will be a lot more fun.
