If i had plans to cerakote this, are there any pros or even cons to getting this marinecote variant?

This specific model stuck out to me because if the 18.5" barrel and how absolutely bare bones it is (aside from the marinecote)

I got the 20" 9shot in magpul furniture and I dont think ill ever buy another pump other than maybe a shockwave. Shits tight af. Smokes 6" steel plates at 60y with slugs over and over with the ghost ring sights

No. The mossberg marinecote is just a silver cerakote, anyways. Rem 870s have an actual nickel plating, which is why they are so much more expensive.

Just go with a regular mossberg

The marinecote will likely be sand blasted off before they apply the Cerakote. Get a regular 590.

I believe the only difference is the corrosion resistance in marine coated parts especially when exposed to moisture. However as far as i can tell with my standard parkerized 590a1 it’s decently corrosive resistant even without regular cleaning. I think overall it’s just aesthetics for most buyers

This is going to sound stupid but i honestly wasnt sure if cerakoting on top of marinecote would:

1. Ruin the marinecote somehow, or reduce the effectiveness of the cerakote on top, or
   
2. Add double the durability and corrosion resistance because more cote = more better

yeah tbh if you are planning on cerakoting a gun i dont recommend the marine finnish. I’ve seen people do it before and other than being impractical it doesn’t look very good as well. Probably better off buying the regular 590a1 as its cheaper as well

they will probably remove the marinate first anyway. You're paying a premium for a specialized cerakote surface, only to have it removed to add aa different cerakote finish applied. Not very cost effective

I had to buff the shit out of my chamber on my marine 590 before it would cycle.

But it cycled fine since

It’s overpriced if you’re going to cover over the marinecote - just buy a regular black one.

Also, this model has a bead sight which does not work very well - shoots high. If I were to buy again, I would look for one with better sights, longer magazine tube, and threadable chokes.

If i were you id do what I did which is get a black parkerized one and then paint it yourself if its for aesthetics. You can always paint it again. I take my stuff out in the rain and its all fine with regular maintenence

Edit Are you doing cerakote for a different color or are you looking at it as a way if protecting the gun from surface rust

Get a base variant instead if you dont want to change the color

The only reason I could see this being worthwhile is if Mossberg coats all the internal components too. Or maybe uses stainless components instead of their standard type.

Cerakote is going to run you 350~600

Partial disagree; would i do some crazy camo job that is gonna be worth more than the gun - no; but a base single colour cerakote means my sub-$1000 shitstick is pretty much weatherproof as well.
