My comment is based on your AI giving you information dated 2025. Edit: The OP is referencing the newest list of Tariffs from August 2026

The Canada.ca page states the current tariff list has been in effect since September 1, 2025 — that’s when Canada scaled back its counter tariffs to just steel, aluminum, and autos (removing counter tariffs on most other U.S. goods). The page hasn’t been updated with a newer effective date since then, so those September 2025 rules are still the current ones as of today, August 25, 2026.

So “as of September 1, 2025” was me citing the effective date named on the page — not saying it’s currently 2025.
