In my skim though I saw no guns on there. But lots of other stuff that we all use. Which is going to make life super expensive. Until both sides have the leaders pull there heads out their buts and get to work.

edit: replaced there with their.

You can’t honestly believe both sides are the problem. It’s clearly a problem with one side in particular.

It most definitely is a problem with both sides. A big reason why they haven’t been able to come to an agreement is because both sides believe that the other is the reason for the dispute, which makes it harder to justify making reasonable concessions that would lead to a deal.

You guys who are saying Trump/The US is the issue are doing the exact same thing that the Canadian government is doing, which is looking at this trade dispute as BEGINNING when the US decided to impose tariffs when Trump came into office. Yes, that’s when this specific dispute began, im not arguing that, but the US grievances that led to this action relates to decades of perceived trade injustices during the “status quo” years, and to be fair to them, they have some perfectly valid reasons to want that to change.

If a trade deal will be reached the Canadian government has to recognize and address these points of contention in the “status quo”, rather than taking the stance that it’s the US’s fault that the status quo was ruined and therefore Canada is the aggrieved party here. Believe me, the US will be fine without us, we won’t be fine without them. Negotiation requires self awareness of one’s position and current leverage, without that, the dispute will continue indefinitely and we’ll just be stuck with political theatre and no results as we have been for the past year and then some.

“A big reason why they haven’t been able to come to an agreement is because both sides believe that the other is the reason for the dispute…”

To a criminal the courts are unreasonable, to a rapist the victim is unreasonable, to a besieging army the walled city is unreasonable. To a bad faith negotiator like Trump, anything short of complete surrender is unreasonable. That doesn’t mean both sides are unreasonable just because both sides think so. We can use our objective brains to analyze, see past and present behaviour and what both sides have put out to come to conclusions and determine who is more right and who is more wrong. No doubt some small percentage is to blame on Canada, but the overwhelming majority of blame lays at the feet of Trump and his team who have mixed, competing interests who put out conflicting and outrageous bad faith demands. I don’t know how you don’t see that, but that’s how it is. Can you name any deals Trump has done with other countries where he acted in good faith and both sides walked away for the better? Besides maybe Israel but that’s a whole other issue to delve into.

Nothing he does is in good faith. Any deal with Trump has to have a clear winner and clear loser. Trump has to be 'the winner'.

And it's not like he's a good businessman. For fuck sakes he background multiple casinos.
