Shitpost / Memes Silly question that I can't seem to google the answer to. When using a chamber laser bore sighter. Do you close the bolt into the locking lugs with it, or use it with the bolt out?

Depends on the tool. Some you do, some you don't. In either case, it's only gonna get you sorta close. You will still need to zero at the range with live ammo.

As long as it is properly sitting in the chamber it’s fine. Bore laser allows you to rapidly zero the scope before you go to the range. It’s not meant for precision zeroing or whatever. Unless we are talking about pistols which isn’t the case here.

it depends, but as a general rule you can lightly close the bolt so long as you dont try and force it into lockup.

I have always used a laser to bore sight my rifles. This last one I just bore sighted my bolt action by taking the bolt out and looking down the barrel and made sure I could see the target at 100 yards. Got me on paper. 3 shot zero. It was awesome.

Nice, that's the same way I do it. It's really fast if you have a couple shooting bags.
