I also have an ace game in 300 win mag, I absolutely love it. Blast to shoot.

They are absolutely great guns.

I would have gone with the ace target, but I wanted something that would be a little easier to haul up in the bush hunting but still some fun at the range.

Seemed like a good fit. And so far have absolutely not been disappointed.

Yeah even if you’re shooting off a bench at a range you can just take a few mins between shots to keep the barrel cool. Definitely a good compromise for the weight in my opinion. Unless you’re strictly bench shooting with it I don’t think the target would benefit.

Exactly. 3-5 shot groups. Few mins in between to let it cool, check targets, shoot other guns.

It probably opens up more in 5 shots than the target would. But im more interested in just hitting targets than I am chasing sub moa groups. So it works great.

Eventually it will get a more dedicated hunting scope and be replaced on the bench with a more purpose built target platform. But for now it is exactly the kinda hybrid purpose rifle I needed.

I definitely dont think it would be un feasible.

Maybe a bit heavy for a major back country hunt. But nothing that you still couldn't manage. Might make shooting offhand a bit of a challenge. But would still work great with a bipod.

How did your 1854 like the Hornady ammo? I just got an 1854 stealth hunter in 30-30 with the 16.5 inch barrel and am curious what ammo works well in these.
