Feets / Collection / My build The "Gigachad" Sks
Tried to avoid spending backland hunter/mk15 money by building something modernized. Some hate it, but I love it and that's what matters.
This idea was loosely inspired by garand thumbs "gigachad mosin" concept, except it lacks a muzzle device as nobody near me does barrel threading for a reasonable price or timeline.
Brand new french tickler late production, Matador arms chassis, vortex venom, magpul grip handstop and sling, archangel mags, kodiak defence rail, mcarbo light trigger spring. Probably forgetting something else. I blued the bolt and carrier before it was painted so its all black underneath.
Paint was done with krylon and rustoleum camos, winged it after watching a few videos. Scrim is burlap that I painted, frayed. And twisted 2.5" by 1 foot strips.
COMING SOON
Precision armament hypertap brake
Green ms3 sling instead of black
Backup irons

It looks wicked but I have a hard time getting past 12 pounds to shoot 5 rounds at 4 moa.

Yeah if the other options were half the price I would have gone the 556 route but it is what it is

I love 7.62x39 as a cartridge. If not for the war, it was the cheapest centerfire cartridge to plink with and its perfectly acceptable for taking deer.
Its also awesome that we still have the sks as a reliable option for semi auto. I hope the canadian market keeps developing the aftermarket, but thats a big ask for 60+ year old surplus pieces.

Kinda reminds me of a rifle from Star Wars battlefront used by the scout troopers on Endor. Nicely done!

Did you have to modify the chassis to get the mags with the levers to fit?

u/PepperAndFrens 27d ago
Yeah I took a metal file and a dremel and just widened it out, theres already a groove there its just not wide enough.

u/Reostat 27d ago
Pretty easy? I am sitting with the same mags and cursing myself for buying them since they didn't fit, but if it's just the back channel AND inside (to not mar the finish), might give it a go

Im gonna go take a photo quick so you can see

Awesome, appreciate the photos man. I'll grab the dremel in the near future.

I just did the closed bolt mod tonight, scared tf out of me using a grinder and dremel on the bolt but it works now

Id say fairly easy, just match the back channel to the main inner walls where the mag sits, file or dremel some, try to fit it, remove more, repeat

More like giga bubba.
Everyone knows the only chad configuration of an sks is the stock rifle accompanied by a guy who can run it fast
