Fix my gun reasonable wait times for a gunsmith?

I dropped off an shotgun barrel back in December to have it threaded for chokes and it still hasn't been done yet. I called about 2 months ago and he said was really busy and hadn't gotten to it yet and he would call me when its done. is this a normal wait time these days?

Go get ur shotgun back. Jesus christ it doesnt take 9 months to thread a shotgun barrel i dont care who your gunsmith is.

Depends on your gunsmith. My gunsmith warned my that my gun repair might incur delays up to 3 weeks since parts can be long to get.

In the end, was done in 1 week. Says people have yet to think about hunting and he expects more of a rush in September.

2 months is not normal no.

Is it a gunsmith or Mike Gunsmith from Canmore doing it out of his garage?

A proper gunsmith that attached to a respectable shop.

That’s ridiculous then, definitely take your business somewhere else.

This is all too common in Canada.
They don't care either way because there's always a queue of work waiting, and i think this is why they don't even try. They know if you take the gun back and go elsewhere someone will be in next week.

Could be a few weeks, could be a year, could be longer, could be never. Especially if it's a one man shop and they only work guns on a part-time basis or they're swamped and they decide to push out work further in favor of higher paying jobs. Your guess is as good as mine. I'd get your gun back and go elsewhere.

Hope it wasn't a nice/obscure shotgun barrel. I've hard some horror stories from friends where they dropped off their gun at a gunsmith where they cannibalized your parts to finish an overdue build and wait for new parts to show up. The issue is when the parts are on backorder/hard to source which ends up in these long delays and they pray you don't just ask for the gun back. In your case at least it is just a barrel - I assume the smith wasn't dumb enough to lose it/use it for another customer's build.
