Let's be frank here, the Bloc isn't a friend to firearms and Yves has also platformed Poly and their ilk.

The fact that politicians feel so safe to blame "the gun lobby" (which let's be honest, is barely an entity in Canada compared to other places). As opposed to being held accountable or addressing the underlying systemic issues that they've helped create is sad.

Frankly anyone that tries to shift blame to Canadas "gun lobby" is just exposing how ignorant they are and how badly they want to virtue signal.

We gave a gun hobby more than a gun lobby.
Almost no manufacturers exist here, all those that do are more into millitary contract than retail sales (does colt canada actually sell anything outside of juicy leo and millitary contracts?)

We are the gun lobby.

Bro nobody in Quebec is. I’ve seen a huge amount of Quebec gun owners but our politicians fucking hate us

Gonna be one of the videos he keeps a glass of scotch on hand for.

Fun fact: the guy you're saying that to is Runkle. So yeah, probably, lol.

I had my suspicions haha

Isn’t that every video?

If I'm not mistaken, wouldn't defamation require CCFR to prove 1. intent, and 2. damages - specifically monetary damages caused by a harm to reputation and this sales/commitments?

I HIGHLY doubt they can prove either of those from this tweet alone, or really anything he said specifically directed to the CCFR.

You're not mistaken.

Also an opinion can't be defamatory and that's all they tweet contains. There's no false statement of fact.

I'm not a fan of BQ's position towards gun ownership, but I'm not sure YFB's post was explicitly directed towards CCFR enough for a defamation lawsuit.

Then again, I'm not a lawyer.

EDIT: Wrong party initials

I don't see it meeting the threshold for defamation at all

A lawyer some where is willing to make a case of it and thats all that matters apparently

Political hypocrisy to preserve a few votes at the expense of the founding values of our society...

That sounds like what the liberals are doing in pandering to natalie

As a Quebecer: FUCK YEAH

u/some_smart_dumbass 29d ago

Phoque oui en effet. En espérant ça puisse décourager d'autres de faire comme lui et se faire du capital politique en nous bashant.

A lot of people outside the major cities own firearms in Quebec, the countryside is also the most likely to vote for the Bloc so I don't know what Blanchet is thinking when he says that...

This may be a difficult case to win. However, anyone who spreads this kind of hate and false information will think twice before making false accusations against lawful gun owners.

Waste of time/money - they'll never be able to prove that they suffered any damages from this (allegedly) defamatory statement. I don't agree with what this guy is saying, but that doesn't make it defamation.

I'm sure they have something else in the background that they haven't shown. The ccfr and their lawyers are not stupid enough to take up a defamation case if they knew they weren't going to win

And more than anything its a massibe inconvenience for Yves and the Bloc. Their sueing him in Alberta, so that means he will likely have to travel there a few times and pay for lawyers.

I'll gladly donate to the cause, politicians should be held accountable and if they want to spin false narratives and put the blame on law abiding citizens, organizations and companies for the acts of terrorists then there should be some sort of consequence, even if thats just inconveniences and a court case that drags on for a few years.

The punishment is the process! 😂

Blanchett is a moronic asshole, but I don't see how anything in that tweet is defamatory.

Canada really doesn’t work. It’s just too big and there is no real consensus on anything between the various groups. Our differences are irreconcilable. The only solution is balkanization.

12

u/Perfect_Diamond_1128 29d ago

it did work at one point, and we know why. balkanization is the final solution but the government will stop it from happening at all costs.

5

u/sh9431 29d ago

It only “worked” at one time because the East completely ignored the West

The entire gun grab program is to please quebeccers base/vote. Our friend Gary Anasangari (sp?) Already spilled the beans.

Good for the CCFR to go after that douche bag. Hate that hoser.

YFB seems to forget about his DUI drunk driving days. Which kills and injures far more Canadians and families every year than legal gun owners do by an order of magnitude…

He should not be throwing around baseless claims backed by Poly or it may resurface to light again

Holy shit he’s actually nuts

“Everywhere in the free world”… I’m pretty sure that isn’t what’s going on anymore..

He is saying that what was deemed a terrorist attack in a foreign country is to blame because of the gun lobby here and that they fuel this hatred that caused that. That in its self is not only a lie, is an event that has nothing to do with "the gun lobby" here and therefore can be defined as deformation.

It's about time that our group stood up to the lies and propaganda that gets spread by politicians and leftists.

Loberg Ector LLC, the law firm that represents the CCFR isn't just some law firm either. They are well regarded and have worked on some pretty high profile cases. I would imagine if they are representing the CCFR here, they wouldn't just be doing for no good reason.

3

u/MundaneHunting 28d ago

I sure hope they've got something else here to work with, otherwise if it can't stand on it's own legs in court it is a bad look to be vexatious with all the upcoming high profile things coming up in the next few months in court.

YFB est un imbécile.
