Buy recommendations Can’t make up my mind
Does anyone think the Maksai is going to be banned? I’m having a hard time swallowing a massive amount for it, when I could look at a sksd for around the same.
Any thoughts? I’ve had a restarted license before the huge ban, but I’m scared to buy anything remotely “tactical” lmao.

The government will continue to do whatever they want as long as they're in power.
There are no 'unbannable' firearms.
If it's financially not in the cards for you, don't get it. If it is, get it and enjoy it. That's all there is until another election.

Guns are like pets. We'll lose them eventually but fearing that isn't a good reason to not get one.

Honestly. Buy the SKS-D. If you don't like it then you can probably sell it for more money later down the road.
Everything will be banned one day. Don't make that your primary concern. Hell I'm pretty sure my DJI drone will be banned in the future.

Sks-d is a poorer quality commercial copy that at this stage is about as expensive as a makasi or Carmel anyways.

The quality difference is negligible. Cosmetic at best.

I’ve heard of inferior build quality and issues with magazine reliability leading to stoppages and the like.
Honestly just a commercial bubba to make it more appealing in the west.

The SKS Ds that I’ve owned (3 of them) have all been more reliable than my Yugoslavian m59/66 which is credited as being the highest quality SKS

Except if the supreme Court case succeeds and SKS rifles drop in value down to 3-400$

Yes it will get banned. Unless the conservatives win maybe? They could also ban the SKS-D because it was never widely used by indigenous people unlike the cheaper and more available standard SKS.

If you see it as a financial risk then don’t. Start with manual action first.
Eventually they want to ban everything tho

if the makasi is banned i would think the sks will be part of that new wave of bans

With the current government and legislation you can expect everything to be banned eventually, so you can accep this and either buy what you want knowing one day it will be banned or dont buy any gun again also knowing it will be banned. Personally i choose to excercise the freedom to purchase whatever is available, however i refuse to buy anything restricted at this point.

My understanding is the decision might not be till next summer soo there’s months of enjoyment I guess or we will see

Maybe I’m optimistic, but with the Supreme Court case coming up EOY and the backstepping the government has done on the disastrous buyback program, I do think we may see them fuck off slightly on bans; time will tell.

The possibility is always there
If its too much money for you, don't buy it. Get something else. All these "boutique" semis are not cheap.
Dont feel like you have to have one in order to enjoy the sport!

Liberals end game is no firearm ownership.
That is the state of firearm ownership these days.
If you can afford to lose it in an unknown time frame, go for it and have a blast while you can!
If you're worried about loosing 2500 bucks randomly, then maybe hold off.

Everything will be banned eventually. Might as well give up your gun license and put your car keys on the front porch.

If the Makasi gets banned, wait, what gets banned? What am I talking about, you had a Makasi? No you didn’t, you sadly lost it right after you bought it right?

eh you can either put your money where your mouth is if you can afford it, or relinquish all your firearms now and let your pal lapse if youre that scared. nothing is unbannable.

The lion doesn't concern himself with bans
