Disappointed - Simmons Pro target Red dot

Currently run a vortex triumph on my 556 (I love it)

Thought I would order a simmons pro target dot because I liked the design and too give other brands a try, also it was a good price ($100) for my 22lr. Box was sealed brand new but turned up like this with a smudge/haze on the inside of the rear lens...

Simmons is a low end brand, I think more suited for air rifles than a real rifle.

Well they're made by bushnell so did expect better really

They're not made by anyone in particular, they're a mass produced part from China, I can get one for like 15 dollars direct from factory

The red dot is probably fine, a lot of lower end Vortex stuff is that cheap too... Probably just bad quality control. I'd just go back and exchange it

A $200 dot might cost $100 to manufacture, but you damn well bet a $100-tier red dot costs less than $20. Airsoft red dots work just fine with a .22 plinker.

I have a $50 UUG or something one off Amazon on my Wildcat, and aside from the fact that clicks are 1/2 MOA, it's held zero for about 1000 rounds and several trips back and forth from the range. We'll see how it handles bouncing around on a quad this fall.

I have the Bushnell TRS 25 that is pretty much the same thing. Taxes in, I paid 100 bucks for it and it works just fine with my holosun 3x, and did a stint on my 22 as well. Holds zero just fine, puts a dot where the target is, QC is perfectly....average. if I expect better, I pay for better.
