Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls. Do you have a PAL? Do you have guns? Do you have legs? Do you want to shoot those guns while also moving your legs? Yes I said guns, as in plural. Have you heard of Dynamic Sport Shooting (DSS)? If you have, and don't come to matches, that's lame. For the rest of you, I'd love to see more people come and be not lame. Many people think multigun requires a handgun, or an AR, and while those things make it better, it's not required.

Rifle is all you require for many matches, some require a shotgun. Rimfire is highly recommended for new shooters (get a TM-22 or 10/22, and 4 or 5 mags). It's cheap, it's semi, what more do you want? (besides the rest of your fucking guns back). If you dont have a shotgun, and you are nice, most people in your squad will happily let you use their shotgun so you can find a new way to spend your money.

Similar to IPSC, DSS requires a 1-day match training/qualifier for newcomers to teach you the fundamentals of safety on a dynamic range, which can be much different than what you may be used to with static shooting. All experience levels are welcome. The next qualifier is this weekend. Be there, or be... well, maybe at the next one, which usually happens every couple months.

If you are an experienced dynamic shooter, let them know ahead of time and they can get you in and out faster. If you've already done their qualifier, well, what are you waiting for? Sign up for the match at the end of the month!

Yup! Some matches have calibre restrictions, due to distances and/or steel usage, but otherwise they accommdate basically everything, including levers, break actions, etc.

If we're shooting rifle calibers, yeah. Often it's just PCC/Rimfire though, but you can read the match description beforehand.

Good boots and pouches are nice but really you can just use your pockets to hold mags. We make the barrier to entry as low as we can. Come out and have fun and if you need anything equipment wise just ask and someone will loan it to you for the match!

Dress for the weather, and bring more than the recommended ammo. If you don't have magazine pouches and etc, just wear something with big ol' pockets. Also lets you see what others have and ask questions without wasting money on things that don't work.

Yup, $60. Unfortunately range's aren't free to use, but it includes a DSS membership for the rest of the year and if you're unfamiliar with dynamic shooting/matches its a good introduction for not a lot of money.

Don't think so, but shoot them an email. A 22 rifle or pistol caliber is usually a better fit for those, but they might have a loaner rifle for you to use.

I would expect them to host one more before the year is out. The course length depends on the number of attendees, but if you just shoot them an email and explain your situation they should be able to confirm or not whether they can get you out by the time you gotta leave.

Out of curiosity, are match results adjusted to account for competitor equipment? What I mean is someone running semiauto would likely have time advantages over someone with a bolt action.

In autocross a Ferrari is placed in a different time bracket than say a Miata in order to level the playing field

At this time no, it's pretty rare to see anyone running a manual action rifle. Everyone has switched over to 10/22 or TM-22 for semi auto's and they aren't prohibitively expensive like acquiring $3k centerfire semi. If more people shot manual action I'm sure it would happen, but there are already so many divisions due to pistol or no pistol, rifle or no rifle, some matches shotgun is optional creating yet more sub-divisions.

Would also like to point out that at this time, the people I see running manual actions tend to not need a handicap to begin with, they are coming top 5 whether they run a bolt action or a lever or a break action for the challenge.

Years ago I kind of posited the idea among friends to do “Canadian NR two gun” which amounted to basically a semi auto rifle and a shotgun. We had a great crown land set up with a decommissioned logging road that we set targets up along so you could run and gun till you got too winded. Reverse Mozambique drills(two center mass, one to the groin) all day.
