Gun and gear reviews What would be your choice for shotgun 12: Remington 870 or STOEGER P350
I'm new to this, and I was looking for an entry-level shotgun for bird hunting. Any thoughts?

A used 870 Wingmaster (specifically) is an amazing shotgun specifically designed for bird hunting. Extremely smooth action. Would destroy the Stoeger in terms of quality and feel. Not even a particularly close competition in my opinion.

Go on gun post and find an older 870 wingmaster. Hands down best pump shotgun. I have a 20 gauge from the 60s and it’s my favourite out of all of mine

My old beat up 870 still goes bang and it’s almost been 50 years of abuse on it judging by the mfg. date! Picked it up for a whopping $250 I would send it again if I had the choice too

Thoughts: go to a gun store that has a large variety and try shouldering different shotguns first. Pick the ones that point the most naturally for u. Then purchase based off from reviews for those models.

870 all the way. IMO the 870 is the best in class pump action for the price. Mossberg 500 is also an excellent choice, but I went with the 870 due to the action.
Handle both at a store and see what you’d prefer. If you’re interested also look into the field/deer combos offered for either platform, you get a rifled slug barrel and field smooth bore barrel for shot

I had a p350. It swung like it weighed 99 lbs.
I had an 870 express, it would rust if the sun went behind the clouds.
Mossberg 585 has been working great for like 20 years.

I owned a P3000 and I have an 870 now. The P3000 put food on my table without issue tbh. Either are fine for bird hunting.
Personally I would go for whatever's cheaper which would probably still be like an old 870.

Stoeger is the only gun brand I've seen where the gun routinely fails to fire fresh out of the box. The double barrel sxs for both my brother and another friend would light strike on one barrel 50% of the time.
I bought a mossberg 590a1, and I wish I had just gone with the basic 500 for customization. So i recommend 870 as it's a 500 side grade. I will say that Remington has had a few rough patches in history when freedom group took over the qc went down the pooper so do.more research there

Consider a Maverick or Mossberg. Modern Remington manufacturing quality is way down compared to the good ol' days.
Mossberg has plenty of aftermarket support, better ergonomics, and the company isn't going under for the Nth time. (Remington is claiming bankruptcy once again. Warranty support is limited.)
If you buy an older Remington, say 1980s vintage, you'll be fine.

870 between those. Use Google to see years when they are undesirable. Current production seem good. I'd skip 2007-2020.

Between those two the 870 without question. Also take a look at the mossberg 500 as its safety is without comparison.

If you can get an oldschool 870 I would suggest that. Also perhaps consider the Ithaca 37 as well.

Between the 2, 870. However, i love my mossberg 500 and would recomend that anytime.
