Tires for spalling protection.

Anyone else try this out? Using an old car tire as a spalling catcher for your steel gongs. Saves the wood of your home-made target boxes thats for sure, I don't think I had any go through even after smacking the gong a couple of times with the .308

Yes I've done similar.

I screwed 2 tires together. Then took a large flat plate of steal and placed on an angle inside both tires. I then put plywood on the outside edges of the tires to completely trap the lead.

Yours looks much easier and will be pretty effective.
