I put the hobby on hold and move on. I eventually come back to it. Whatever you do don't sell anything.

Shoot competitions. PRS, IPSC, ISSF, SCSA, 3 Gun, whatever.
Shooting at a bench is solely for zeroing before a competition.

All of the above, have to go fondle my guns a few times a week, ammo inventory, plan the next gun, accessorize, organize gear, plan my next ammo purchases, looking for sales, checking out one of 4 of my usual LGS.
Was actually just looking at Henry mares legs at Canadian tire today. Not really interested in the 22LR one but the had a 45LC one too. But think I’m going to grab one in 44mag instead, and probably get a full stock for it eventually too. Something about the Henry’s I like better than the Chiapas and others I’ve seen around. Mainly the feel and large loop.

I get bored of guns all the time. Take a step back, invest in other hobbies and return when something new has released that catches your eye.

I found a discipline (25m std pistol & 10m air pistol) that I genuinely enjoy, so I’m constantly trying to improve. I’ll practice any chance I get.
That said, I think it’s a good idea to try different disciplines. IPSC, PPC, IDPA, 22LR rifle, long range, 3 guns, cowboy, bullseye, etc etc. There’s a crazy amount of disciplines in shooting. You don’t have to become competitive, but if you do find one that you want to improve constantly on, it’ll probably be your perpetual motivator.

Find another hobby for me unfortunately. Lol
The bans ruined the hobby for me.
At times when I see posts from his sub come up I debate hitting that unjoin button. Only thing keeping me here is the politics and community.

haha same here, especially with ARS (I got my license back in 2022 post OICS) I love the older setup ARs especially, cold war style . barebones, no heavily decked out rails or optics ect. i'd be happy with a CAR 15 or an SP1. or make a C8 replica. I had a coworker who went to nashville for a vacation and he rolled into a cabelas and saw a massive section that was straight handguns/revolvers

Get other hobbies. Don't just focus on one thing. I read, play video games, collect and build 1/6 military action figures, use and collect actual gear, bushcraft... Don't be a one hobby pony.

Even if you are not bored, shooting is expensive.
I inherited 30 handguns lol.... (We transfered them into my name just before the ban... Dad is still alive).
I find handguns boring at the best of times and I was never interested in IDPA. Only so many holes you can put into cardboard.
I do love trap shooting... But lol, there isn't much more expensive than competitive trap shooting. I might go once a month to shoot a couple rounds of trap year round (mild Winters here in BC).
I'll carry my Benelli Super Nova Tactical while hiking.... And hopefully never have to use it.
I don't hunt... So they collect dust... I'll plink a bit with my 17hmr.
Honestly, I'd rather golf or play competitive billiards.

Honestly most of my hobby is trap shooting so I just pick a new course and head to it when I get bored

Try a marksmanship course, very interesting shooting skills.
Then I got into skeet, very interesting budget abuse!

If everything's clean and taken care of, I'm happy enjoying something else for a bit. I'll shoot at a maintenance level, but a little time away can bring back my joy a bit.
Doesn't hurt that I have a lot of dumb hobbies.

Use a laser trainer, shoot an airsoft version of my pistols in the garage doing mini ipsc, watch a bunch of firearms shows to humble myself when I think I might be getting better at shooting.

Switch it up for a bit.
I have a couple different "main" squeezes for different tasks. If I get bored of snap shooting and drills with my CZ Trail, I swap to shooting my tikka for a bit and working on groups and accuracy. I do maintenance, I work on building skills, etc. Maybe work up a new load - last time I got bored I ran up a very specific 150grn 7.62x39 load to give my trail some longer legs for hunting etc. I'm probably going to look for a cheap shotgun press at gun shows this fall and get into reloading my own shells.
Sometimes I'll spend some time working on adjacent hobbies, like improving my soft kit (LBE, pack, etc), learning more radio theory and improving my setup there, etc.
Then I'll practice with those gear improvements and the rifle to rebuild the muscle memory and such if there's been any major changes, and make sure it actually works as intended in use.
If I don't want to spend money, I'll just learn new things by reading.
It depends on what you want to do, honestly, and what you vibe with.

Would you recommend the Cz600 trail?
I’m considering picking up a 7.62x39 Trail to bring hunting and on backpacking trips into remote places. 7.62x39 is a perfect cartridge for me and the Trail looks to be super handy and compact I don’t need pinpoint accuracy either 2-2.5 MOA is probably enough and I doubt I’ll shoot past 150 yards

Yep, I would, for you. The CZ trail is awesome at what it does, which is being a compact carbine. The folding stock can take some getting used to, but if you pull back and upward slightly on the pistol grip, you'll reliably get a solid shoulder lock.
Most of the accuracy issue reports with the trail are due to the 5.56/.223 version. The barrel twist on that is geared towards heavier rounds, and doesn't stabilize the most common (55gr) bulk ammo well.
The 7.62x39 benefits from the fact that almost all 7.62x39 Ammunition is 123-125gr, with some outliers around 150gr. The barrel twist is optimal for those bullets, and it's relatively hard to go wrong with most 7.62x39 ammo. It comes down more to quality and consistency of the ammo instead.
Surplus will be relatively accurate (within the 2MOA rating), modern hunting ammo will be better on the whole, with some being exceptional. Mine will put Federal Power-Shok or handloads within a 0.75MOA group at 100y.
I have heard very good accuracy reports from the 300BO version as well, which makes sense given the cartridge's similarities to 7.62x39.
If you buy one, register for the warranty ASAP, as CZ has (I think they still do at least) a lifetime barrel warranty.

I cycle through my hobbies. Cars, hiking, biking, video games, reading, guns… When I’ve reached the point in which something doesn’t interest me, I pack up. No point in turning the hobby sour when it just might not be the right time or place.

Very detailed firearm sim, fun to tinker with different weapons, blow shit up etc
