A few big things lately.
The Makasi MK15 and the IWI Carmel are finally hitting the market, they’re the last of the semi auto 223s we have left. New to the market as of this summer. Should be touching down this month I believe.
CCFR is going to the supreme court to challenge the OIC bans, and is getting massive backing from the firearms industry. Seems like new organizations join the case in their support everyday. If you got spare cash, go donate to their legal fees. As consequence of this, the feds pushed the buyback indefinitely until the result of the case has been decided.
The RCMP and various CFOs are allegedly looking into closing some of the ‘loopholes’ for getting pistols now that they’ve banned transfer. Apparently they’ll be cracking down on the Olympic shooter exemptions and the ‘borrowing’ process for restricteds, but who knows.
Lots of new guns hitting the market lately, Henry Supreme is a popular one.
Go buy a gun and support a local gun store. Those guys need all the help they can get.
I’m looking at one of the stubby Shield Rifleworks bolt actions as my next pick up.

Well said. Exactly this. So many smaller gun shops have been closing lately.

MDT acquired Lone Peak Arms which means we have one more brand of readily accessible custom actions for bolt action disciplines of shooting.

Greetings fellow firearms enthusiasts! Do we have any new updates regarding any new tactical/scary looking semi-autos coming to the market? Would love some advice for my next purchase!

Any remaining shooting sports are hanging on by a thread and the vast majority gun stores sell all of the same stuff now that there isn't much on the market. Waiting for the inevitable legislation that cements the OICs. There are two new semi auto 223s that somehow got approved for sale but their impending ban is practically a certainty.
So things are not great unless you're strictly a hunter that uses 'traditional' guns

I get the sense that instead of doing models a la carte, they will do a removable magazine ban in certain calibres. This will save the sks for the natives and get rid of all the fun guns.

I’m not a Canadian, but do Canadians have something like the 2nd amendment

Everything has been getting worse. And will continue under this regime no matter the outcome of the current SCC case. Democracy doesn't exist here.

Lots of conversations here about semi auto .223/5.56s, but on the clay shooting side the Ontario Trapshooting Provincials attendance was down ~10% compared to last year while the Skeet Nationals had record turnout (44 competitors). Tournaments like these imo is a proxy for general economics because you need to pay for travel and accommodation. I think it signals that people have less discretionary income while those who have money continue to spend... Inequality, widening. From that perspective, nothing really new

Not much new lately tbh...
Inky Mark had his anti-tank rifle cannon confiscated
A communist attacked pornhub, cop killed a rabbi
Gary's cheeks have gotten bigger as he collects more food for winter
Typical Canada

Just waiting for this years bans in December. Im guessing all detachable mag guns banned.

That would result in the mother of all lawsuits even moreso than the current ones, as most bolt actions these days come with detachable box mags. Every single PRS, Hunting, retailer, manufacturer or Indigenous group would be out for their asses.
I don't think even the current government is that dumb. If they are, I hope they get absolutely disassembled in court.
Hell, they may already get wrecked in court, which would be nice and would put further momentum behind the anti-ban sentiment, since the whole debocle is so unpopular and grossly over-budget.

Disassembled, I'd hope for more. But I'd rather the courts force them to clean house and get rid of all those with personal agendas, and muzzle all the snowflakes trying to muzzle all of us regular, law-abiding citizens.

The gun world is actively dying in Canada. Sporting wise anyways
