Misc What happened to Spectre Ballistics ST22M and ST22 SBR?

I see FRT entries for these marked as Non-Restricted. They are 114 mm barrel and 318 mm barrel. There is nothing in the market in truely this category. This is basically a pistol length barrel in a rifle that is about 20 inch length I guess. But I never see them listed anywhere. Were they never really launched or something?

The ST22m is a one off prototype for a project. It's not a commercial product.

Our ST-22 rifles come with a 12.5" barrel or 16" barrel.

Could it be a commercial product ?

A "super short" would be wonderful to carry on our ATV's.

Currently we all carry stock 10-22's with 8" ER Shaw barrels in factory compact model stocks.

Okay.

For me, a rifle with a pistol sized barrel has a utility: For those who want to practice for pistol events before they get an actual pistol.

Our rifle wouldn't really be suitable for that. It's not designed to be fired like a pistol.

You can buy aftermarket barrels and build your own, thats the beauty of a 10/22 platform.

Not everything filed in the FRT is production ready. There are prototypes in there.

But there's nothing stopping you from building your own 114mm barrel, 519mm OAL, fixed stock NON-RESTRICTED 10/22. SBI proved that it is doable and 100% legal.

It's a 10/22. Just put one together yourself. It's not rocket science.

Okay. Sorry, I have not done firearm building myself. I do remember having a discussion about legality of such builds and apparently they are legal....

You may have to build something. Way back years before the bans I built a fixed stock for a VZ-61 scorpion. Left the original short barrel and built a fixed stock to match the handling and 20" OAL of the original folding stock and the rcmp tech lab reclassed it as NR for me. Unfortunately those guns were later all banned by name but you could build something similar if you started with a bare receiver.
