All good points. Thank you for your insights. Hopefully Brigade Mfg figures out the barrel nut and handguard issues. Did you find the Carmel's height over bore to be an issue?

They are essentially Crusader Arms and no one seems to realize it. Small company that has know about the issues for years and uses the customers as the test dummy’s but won’t fix the issues it seems like.

Using customers as test dummies for long term reliability is one thing. Failing quality control by selling rifles with obvious visible defects is another thing.

Makasi for the win. The thing will be a bit lighter and great for mods. To each their own.

He wasn't bothered by the off-set Handguard Screws nor the Charging Handle impingement because neither "issue" had any impact whatsoever on the rifle's performance. There are good reasons to prefer the Makasi over the Carmel, including the ability to upgrade key components such as the trigger, Bolt and Barrel with standard AR15 parts if desired. As opposed to the Carmel where everything is proprietary. Some think that the Carmel has the edge in reliablility and longevity being an IW product, however as the OP noted he has fired 1000+ rds through the Makasi without a single stoppage. I would seem the Makasi is plenty reliable enough for a range toy, but time and more reviews will tell the true tale. Either way people decide, I hope that they are pleased with their purchases.

Carmel is the plug-and-play good to go option. Makasi is for satisfying your AR modularity itch. I need both.

The key word missing from your statement is “yet” they don’t impact the rifles performance yet. Those issues are certainly something that could cause future problems. I’ve seen other reports where that charging handle issue did cause performance issues. Being able to “upgrade” the Makasis key components is not all it’s cracked up to be. Remember you are putting AR-15 key components into a gun that is not an AR-15. You have no idea of the “upgrade” parts long term compatibility in this platform. or if putting different AR components in this gun will cause tolerance issues. With the other gun the Carmel is already good to go. They made the parts quality from factory so there’s no point in changing it. It’s how gun companies should make their guns and not put just generic bs parts in their guns to save money because they know you are going to upgrade it anyway.

OPs Makasi is the only one that somehow ran fine. Everyone else's Makasi is significant performance issue to the point making through 10 rounds LAR mag without a stoppage is a miracle

nope, that did not solve any issues. They all came in suppressed setting. There are tons of FTF, FTE issues reported on here and CGN

all of those are symptoms of too small of a gas hole. turn the screw to the bigger hole. seems pretty easy

I haven't shot either rifle yet, so this isn't a hands on review, but if I were putting my money on one, I'd lean toward the IWI Carmel.
The Makasi may look good, but Brigade is a relatively new firearms manufacturer and as far as I know, doesn't have a history of producing military service rifles. IWI on the other hand, has decades of experience designing and manufacturing military firearms. That doesn't automatically make the Carmel a better rifle, but if I'm betting on a manufacturer's experience and track record, I'd put my money on IWI Carmel 💯

Have fun with your MK15. You had the option to buy something made by a company that has been around for decades and actually has a seasoned R&D team, but instead you bought some gun from a random tiny company in Florida and are now trying to justify the purchase and are secretly praying to Hashem that yours doesn’t have issues or they fix the pretty basic QC issues. The only acceptable reason to not buy the Carmel is because you don’t support what is going on with Isreal right now.

Damn amazing video. It seems like the issue regarding the charging handle that people have alluded to would not be as large of an issue as initially thought.
