Feets / Collection / My build 5 Boxes of Ammo?

Post image

Just got my PAL and 2 guns (Moist Nugget and Howa 1500 7.62x39). CFSC instructor said it takes 5 boxes of ammo to get good with a gun. Seems excessive imho...

Probably 5 boxes of 20/50 rounds. I know people who can easily shoot 500 rounds or more at a range day lol

Lol I've done 300 22lr in a day to break in a barrel....

I do 400 rounds of 9mm minimum, otherwise its not worth my time to drive to the range.

Man when my PCC wasnt banned minimum 500 rounds every range trip of 9mm

Last Saturday I went to range and shot off 200 rounds of 5.56 with my bolt action ranch rifle.

300 doesn't even last me two hours at the range lol.

I do a 300 round group to warm up the barrel.

With two 22LR rifles with me, at least a brick per outing. With an SKS and/or 5.56 Renegade, 100 each, min.

I buy cases and crates, the cheaper the better. Lots of reps.

LGS sold me these 10 boxes pictured.

I'm one of those people.

200-300 rounds of either 556 or 357mag, then a few hundred 22lr to finish the range day.

The guys who reload love it when I hit the range cause it's a ton of free brass

"Hunny, I just got 5 boxes"

PS. What is MOIST NUGGET? Are those your range snacks? 🀣

Not enough, how do you expect to nourish the irons fielded by your conscript SKS militia and Mosin farmers when the grid goes down?

Bought the last crates I saw around here for 35 cents per round for x39. Local shop, two months ago.

u/FAMOUS0612 Aug 08 '26

Now where did you find surplus 7.62x39 lol

3

u/FireteamOrcale Aug 08 '26

Uxbridge Arms has some right now in spam cans

3

u/BI0WEED Aug 09 '26

And it costs as much as their red box it’s not worth it

3

u/FireteamOrcale Aug 08 '26

What year is your Mosin? I love mine (1936) just don’t have anywhere close by to shoot surplus ammo lol

2

u/GlumNature6528 Aug 09 '26

Mine is a 1952 Hungarian, Egyptian issued. It gets the same groups as my Fin M39 mosin. Lighter though. Better gun. Barrel and trigger are peak Mosin.

Since getting some 223 semi autos, I find myself burning through ammo way faster vs with my bolt guns. Different types of fun though. When using my bolt guns, I try to shoot as small of groups as possible, not really concerned about speed, but with any of my semi autos Im just trying to shoot reasonable groups with moderate speed.

More ammo is always better. I like to keep quite the stash and constantly replenish it, for 2 reasons. 1. My financial situation may change at some point, even now it has somewhat moving go a new house, but I can still shoot for months without needing to worry about buying more. 2. One day ammo could become unavailable, for a multitude of reasons, but primarily if there was ever total economic collapse or natural disaster, I can still feed myself and family. Remember, wasn't it the RCMP who did that study that said by 2040 or so Canadians may be forced to resort to foraging? Doesn't hurt to prepare for the worst, just in case.

Haha. I actually bought this ammo for my kids. I know I will only be able to shoot a fraction while I am still alive.

2

u/ThePoeticJester Aug 08 '26

Fuuuuuck i need that stack

1

u/GlumNature6528 Aug 09 '26

Yes. The way I see it, knowing ammo prices and knowing my kid (4yo) enjoys shooting his 22, these calibers will be essential when they are adults. Also know that the best price to buy any ammo is now. So my kid(s) will be well stocked for the rest of their lives. I willl enable their shooting "privilege." Mission accomplished.

I mean most boxes have 20 rounds but you do you. What you've got are called crates, not boxes.

1

u/under_hunter82376 Aug 08 '26

I would say 3 boxes is enough .

1

u/Rippin_Fat_Farts Aug 08 '26

Need more foot can't goon to this

1

u/Luciferwannab Aug 08 '26

Can you fight?

1

u/GlumNature6528 Aug 09 '26

No. But my children will have unlimited "free" target practice at least (when they are adults of course)

1

u/Luciferwannab Aug 09 '26

Idek what that means lol

1

u/GinnAdvent Aug 08 '26

Is that surplus 7.62x54r ammo?

1

u/Ronin_Black_NJ Aug 08 '26

Those boxes look awfully small πŸ€”

Sure you got enough?

1

u/Slow-Jeweler363 Aug 08 '26

You can never have enough ammo. This is the way.

1

u/Subject_Bet_6693 Aug 09 '26

Doesn't even take his socks off, what a tease πŸ™„

Really though, how's the accuracy with surplus 39 through the bolt action? Ive been thinking of getting one to use up some of mine

1

u/GlumNature6528 Aug 10 '26

Shockingly good. Damn close to 1MOA. Hard to believe but true.

1

u/Subject_Bet_6693 Aug 10 '26

Well shit thats good enough for me to buy one
