Gun and gear reviews Lee Enfield 303 Pro mag ?
I am building a bubba'd jungle carabine a bit like the picture and i was wondering if anybody has tried the Lee enfield pro mags ? I'd like some opinions before buying some
Before people start throwing rocks at me i purchased it for cheap and restored it, it's nice enough to keep but not collector enough to sell it for a profit and i can't see my target past 50 yards with iron sight because of my mole rat vision

Can't speak for others, but their 10/22 mags are such junk I wouldn't dream of buying anything else of theirs.

I buy the 597 mags for my 10/22 (with the SBI adapter). The only thing I really need to do is sand down the feed lips until they don’t interfere with the bolt but at $35/mag I’m not complaining. Only had three instances of FTF after 1500 rounds through several mags and it’s in a range toy so it’s hardly rage inducing when cycling the action after tapping the mag is usually enough.
The polymer Promags for SKS are shit though. Nothing but problems with those.

at $35/mag I’m not complaining
$35/mag is approximately what 25-round TM-22 mags cost, and those don't need filing or require an extra 100 dollar adapter to work.
Just because you have very little choice doesn't mean you can't also have some standards.

Just buy an original magazine. They are available and will work much much better than a promag.

Till you try to grab one from a gunshow and people want $100 for the mag, but you are right they work better for sure

Not nessicarily, my No 4 mk1* so far only works with the mag it came with. I bought another mag at a gun show and it will not feed

Biggest problem I've had with them is the bottom plate will try to wiggle off. You can fix it by putting something in the little loop at the bottom as a sort of retaining pin/clip, but you could also just get an original mag and save yourself the effort.

They work great in my No. 4, easy eject too. Tempted to buy more for fun.
Rather than welding two mags together back to back like Administrative Results, cut them apart, tack weld springs together or make a new one, weld mag bodies together and you have a 19-20rd magazine (see Trench Rat Customs on YouTube for a working example). Probably cheaper and less offensive to do with Promag than destroying original mags.

I bought one for a no.1 mk1 and it's fine, you'll have to adjust it to fit your rifle, had to file down the side and whack it with a mallet a few times to get the shape right to even get into the magwell, then used pliers to get the feed lips adjusted. It's probably worse than an original mag, but I think it might be a bit cheaper than one?

Lee Enfield magazines were designed to be easy to remove for maintenance, they were not designed to be removed and replaced rapidly for reloads, even tho that’s obviously what mags are used for now. They were still designed for stripper clips.
Point being, Lee endings are generally not considered to be reliably interchangeable. From factory and in the field, mags would usually require a minimal amount of fiddling to be perfect for each rifle, so if you make a promag run great consider still using stripper clips and leaving the one mag in the rifle.
Or, say screw it and buy 10, who cares. But yeah promags are shit and will require fitting.

They're shit, don't seat or feed right. Get an original.
That said, Lee Enfields were made to use stripper clips, not magazine swaps.
