News / Politics / Activism Smith and Wesson response status for Canada

Post image

Just wondering if anyone had any insight on this pcc. Not sure if it already has an FRT, as far as I can tell it has proprietary upper and lower meaning it can't use an AR one.

If it wasnt on any market (or in production/design) before C-21 then it is prohibited as it can take mags with capacity greater than 5 rounds.

laws designed with the clarity of a corn maze.

That's a feature, not a bug

So it barely just cleared. C-21 received Royal assent in December 15th, 2023, so it should be legal to import.

21

u/BrotherLefthand Aug 03 '26

I'll buy a couple if these can be imported. Let's make 2 gun great again!

2

u/anonyme450 Aug 05 '26

I need one of these, so update us if you end up doing so!

17

u/Special_Turnover_780 Aug 03 '26

It could still be legal because it was designed before c-21 got royal accent🙏

18

u/j0rmungund bc Aug 03 '26

The Royal accent is a little too posh for me.

Muffled SOBBING in S&W FPC

You know that was the better, funner one that people had experienced and loved here too 😢 😭

20

u/I_Automate Aug 03 '26

My foldy boi deserves to see the sun again

2

u/Successful_man_797 Aug 04 '26

I loved mine! Now I have to cope with homesteader which is not as fun as my FPC.

I get you. Even extended foldy boi was just over 30 inches and weighed just 5lbs. Very accurate with good enough 4.5-5.0lb trigger out-of-box.

PCCs that are long and chonkier just seem like unnecessary wannabe semi-rifles. A thing that big and heavy might as well be an actual rifle shooting an intermediary or full power cartridge.

1

u/IcySkyDream Aug 04 '26

Exactly; the whole point of pistol calibres is that the magazines fit in the grip.

Placing the magazine well forward of the pistol grip is stop and unnecessary, making the rifle longer front heavy.

u/theborealethos Aug 07 '26

I got to shoot my father in laws FPC with a can. It was pleasant.

Straight to jail 😂

13

u/FalseFactsOrg Aug 03 '26

The irony is that if you’re found with an illegal gun, the judge lets you waltz away with a CSO😂

16

u/4r4nd0mninj4 Aug 03 '26

Only if you have no license and a weapons prohibition. 🤷‍♂️

15

u/presdint100 Aug 03 '26

Take my money I yearn for another 9mm pcc

8

u/coniferslav Aug 03 '26

If Ruger PCC is a no go I don't see why this would be.

1

u/No_Heat_6072 Aug 05 '26

That is what i am thinking.

1

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Aug 05 '26

if the home steader is a go i dont know why the Ruger Pcc is lol

25

u/D4NK-V4D3R Aug 03 '26

Can’t you read? It says M&P on the grip. That means Military & Police (only) 🙄😭

22

u/julienjj Aug 03 '26

Damn. I'm worried that the police use equipment made to kill as many people in as little time as possible. /s

10

u/Office_Responsible Aug 03 '26

No they just leave their guns behind at clothing stores….

5

u/JaxIsLoud Aug 03 '26

So who's gonna try and import one and let us know

5

u/Whispersfine Aug 03 '26

Ya they say this ar variant

25

u/alter3d Aug 03 '26

The bowl of mac & cheese I just ate is an AR variant according to the RCMP.

11

u/Brapika Aug 03 '26

Mac & cheese. Mac. Mac-10. Full auto assault gat. Reeeee.

2

u/alter3d Aug 03 '26

There were way more than 10 pieces of mac in the bowl. It was probably a Mac-47 or the even deadlier Mac-74.

4

u/julienjj Aug 03 '26

It's not. Like the Henry.

2

u/TheJuJuGuy Aug 03 '26

Where is the literature on this?

15

u/Cre_AK47 Name Prohibited by OIC Aug 03 '26

I think it's based on the fact that they basically banned every single PCC that was Centerfire and semi-automatic. RIP FX9

1

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Aug 05 '26

homesteaders exist

4

u/MasterScore8739 Aug 03 '26

According to the RCMP, the Mossberg Blaze suddenly becomes a variant of the AK-47 when in a plastic shell resembling the AK.

So if the Blaze 47 is a ‘variant’, then this absolutely is a variant as well in the eyes of the pony police.

1

u/LuckNo2351 Aug 03 '26

doesn't matter how law abiding these firearms, you just simply cant beat OIC.

1

u/kyleh4171 Aug 04 '26

It’s definitely not all politics. 👀

1

u/HappyCan7250 Aug 06 '26

Even though the crypto used a proprietary upper it was still banned as a variant. As much as I would love one of these, and despite a few wins lately for us with FRTs, Im guessing it would be classed as a variant.

Try importing one through IRG and submit it for an FRT, or reach out to Gravel agency about it - or North Sylva, I think they are our to biggest importers. I think Prophet River also does some though, one of them might know more.

But first step would be to verify if it does or does not have an FRT already, then reach out to one of our importers if it does not.

Henry Homesteader with the new Neumann handguard and stock/grip adapter is a pretty sweet setup too though for now, until we are free again.

1

u/Curious_Joe2020 Aug 03 '26

It looks expensive....and no folding stock so a bit too long? Looks too AR like so no way you can import this.

0

u/saneboy Aug 03 '26

The angle of that magwell seems strange, but I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

How many times does it have to be asked on here. Christ people. ZERO CHANCE OF APPROVAL IN CANADA. As it stands right now.

22

u/TheJuJuGuy Aug 03 '26

makasi and Carmel were approved somehow

5

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 03 '26

Both are pre-C21

3

u/Benefit_Waste Aug 03 '26

I still find it funny that guns before c21 can come in but guns like the svt40 cant

1

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 03 '26

Because each nonsense gun ban could only cover a small portion of existing firearms. They've been doing this piecemeal ban since the 1970s.

Whenever they need more votes, they ban a portion of guns.

5

u/Iokua_CDN Aug 03 '26

Both older guns that just never were sold in Canada.  They were made and sold before c21

-21

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

"Somehow" if you understood this you wouldn't ask these stupid questions

They were submitted 2 years ago prior to new requirements of c21

12

u/TheJuJuGuy Aug 03 '26

If asking for insight and clarification is stupidity too you than you must be terribly misguided in your life.

8

u/zaphodbssecondhead Aug 03 '26

Don’t listen to old Dougie, someone constantly shits in his wheatabix and he also is lactose intolerant so eats those hay bales with water, makes for a rough life.

You keep doing good work looking for possibilities.

1

u/QwertyExe9 Aug 03 '26

You know this how?

17

u/QwertyExe9 Aug 03 '26

Never seen a positive comment from you.

I’m starting to think you are the same dude that use to comment here that would go by “I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES”

5

u/Souprah Aug 03 '26

Top 1% commenters are always the absolute worst. They are either a bot or a pathetic person that spends their whole life arguing with people on Reddit

2

u/567432Gains Aug 03 '26

Naw, that guy was funny. He said dumb stuff, not negative stuff. I remember one to someone posted a picture of a grouse they hunted and dude asked “how long will this feed a family?” 😂😂😂

4

u/dgod40 Aug 03 '26

Hahaha...that guy is always so angry.

-11

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

Weird to keep tabs on internet strangers...Ive never seen any comment from you and ive only ever had this account & i don't even own a lever action. But carry on kiddo

4

u/QwertyExe9 Aug 03 '26

I’m starting to doubt you own any guns at all. Real Canadian gun owners don’t go after other gun owners. We are all in this together.

-2

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

Lmfao, yeah i don't have any guns, congratulations you've really got me figured out.

7

u/567432Gains Aug 03 '26

Apparently It’s pre C-21 which, if true, means it very well could be green lit.

-11

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

If it was not submitted to rcmp lab pre c21 then it isn't eligible

13

u/QwertyExe9 Aug 03 '26

That is straight up false. It states it must be designed and produced pre C-21 (Dec 15th 2023), which this WAS designed and produced. Nowhere does it say it must be submitted before C-21.

On another note, I have never seen a positive comment from you DougMacRay617. All your comments are either negative/putting others down or they are just straight up wrong. We are trying to build a solid community and the last thing we need are people like you.

4

u/567432Gains Aug 03 '26

Oh seriously? I was under the impression the only requirement was that the design had to have begun prior to C-21 coming into effect. Yeah then that changes things.

So, if you don’t mind me asking, how did MK-15 and Carmel get approved NR FRT’s only a few months ago? Were they submitted 3 tears ago and only looked at now?

2

u/julienjj Aug 03 '26

You can see that whoever made that text like to write grandiose and pseudo-complex text.

The actual law is :

  • (a) a handgun that
    • (i) has a barrel equal to or less than 105 mm in length, or
    • (ii) is designed or adapted to discharge a 25 or 32 calibre cartridge,
  • but does not include any such handgun that is prescribed, where the handgun is for use in international sporting competitions governed by the rules of the International Shooting Union,
  • (b) a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,
    • (i) is less than 660 mm in length, or
    • (ii) is 660 mm or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm in length,
  • (c) an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger,
  • (d) any firearm that is prescribed to be a prohibited firearm, or
  • (e) any unlawfully manufactured firearm regardless of the means or method of manufacture;
  • (e) a firearm that is not a handgun and that
    • (i) discharges centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner,
    • (ii) was originally designed with a detachable cartridge magazine with a capacity of six cartridges or more, and
    • (iii) is designed and manufactured on or after the day on which this paragraph comes into force; (arme Ă  feu prohibĂŠe)

TBH, I think this rule is unenforceable.

All 3 conditions have to be met to be considered a prohibited firearm.

If I have designed something before the date but not manufactured after the date. the ''AND'' condition is not met.

if I have designed it with a 5 round pinned magazine in mind, the 6 or more is not met.
In theory, any design made in Canada by a civilian company would comply, since no one can own rifle mags that are 6 rounds or more.

1

u/567432Gains Aug 03 '26

Ok so this does not explain the MK-15 or the Carmel.

3

u/julienjj Aug 03 '26

they are pre 2024 designs.
they also meet every single regulations

1

u/567432Gains Aug 03 '26

So good, which means this is good?

0

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Aug 05 '26

crusader literally made the crypto for this and it still got clipped

2

u/julienjj Aug 06 '26

This law is newer than the crypto.

Ban by name is not the same.

1

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 06 '26

Because the Crypto was retroactively banned under the 2020 OIC (Para 87 AR variant), NOT banned under C-21.

If you read the Crypto's FRT, it literally states that it uses a proprietary magazine - meaning the RCMP found it to be C-21 compliant.

It's just that the RCMP believes it wasn't 2020 OIC compliant.

4

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 03 '26

Please tell me where in the Criminal Code, Firearms Act, or Statutory Orders & Regulations (OIC) explicitly mentioned this.

I know for a fact that the Makasi was submitted post-C21 because my BFL friend asked the distributor a couple months ago lol

5

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 03 '26

Why? It's pre-C21 just like the Makasi, Carmel, L85A1, etc.

If anything it'd be flagged as an AR variant lmao

6

u/TheJuJuGuy Aug 03 '26

This was released 2 months before c-21

2

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 03 '26

Yeah I was implying that this won't be banned under C-21.

-14

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

But it wasn't submitted before c21 thats what your failing to recognize

9

u/QwertyExe9 Aug 03 '26

Incorrect. Nowhere does it say it must be submitted pre C-21

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Aug 03 '26

So what? It doesn't need to be submitted before C21. The letter of the law literally just said "designed or manufactured before [2023-12-15]".

-3

u/DougMacRay617 Aug 03 '26

What are you asking or are you just furthering my point? Lol
