"Only police and military can be trusted with guns". Thank god the person who discovered it was an honest person/employee and not some malicious/random person who could have easily put in a backpack/shopping bag and just... Walked away with it...

I wonder how a missing service weapon might have changed the outcome for this officer.

How the fuck do you forget the thing your life in the career literally depends on?

Bro the whole fuckin belt

she was in plain clothes, it was probably a EDC belt and holster.

That doesn't make it any better or reduce her culpability, how the fuck does someone just forget to grab all their shit, especially a firearm, before leaving a changing room? If one of us did that we'd be getting prison time and a lifetime firearms ban.

Not excusing it, just explaining it. The amount of dumb military privates or corporals that leave shit around would astound you. Unfortunately she was in public and didn't notice or secure her gear properly.

That doesn't explain it, at all. If I, a functional alcoholic, can keep track of my belt and EDC pouch (knife, multi-tool, flashlight, sharpie, keys) and never once accidentally leave it behind anywhere over the last several decades, then there is zero excuse or explanation for an on-duty police officer to leave a fucking loaded handgun, that she carries daily, in a public place because she "got a phone call."

Ask the RCMP about all their missing firearms (and ffs, MACHINE GUNS) https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/the-royal-canadian-mounted-police-has-lost-205-firearms-since-2020-including-machine-guns/

When you wear it for 40 hours per week you stop noticing it. I've left a tool belt behind or forgot a drill. Different consequences, different ramifications, but I cant say I'm perfect. But I also cant pretend that its unfathomable that this wont happen from time to time for cops. Its so rare that when it does happen, its newsworthy. And rightfully so.

Not just her firearm, but her full duty belt. How do you not notice that kind of weight gone?

Sometimes the sales on clothes are too important to leave your duty belt on for

The RCMP have lost submachine guns and machines guns and nothing happens to them so this is nothing new.

Military too I think.

When I was in the caf we lost a LOT of stuff, talking ISR plane tracking items, the army lost whole drones in pet, these people in the caf/law enforcement are retarded so its not surprising 😂

Weird, because when we the citizens do it we get 15 years in prison…

And this why no one trusts cops. Should be a jail sentence for that honestly

This is why I am leaving Canada in a couple of years. I cannot live in a country where reckless, untrustworthy cops get to have handguns while lawful, law-abiding licensed civilians can no longer legally own handguns.
Canada used to have a strong gun culture. Sad how it has become a shell of its former self in just 6 years 😢😥

Man. I gotta start hanging out where cops do more often. Crazy how police are so insulated from any type of real consequence when they fuck up though.

What would happen to a civilian leaving a restricted firearm somewhere unlocked
